$1000? Pshaw. Have you no ambition? If I thought Bitcoin would only go to $1000 this year I'd not even bother with it as an investment.

why? 1k is a good target this year, it will secure the mining reward against the halving

and it will lead us to surpass the last ath, next year it can increase again to 2k, or be very stable above 1k, either way it's a good achievement
$1k this year? Based on what? Halving alone won't get us there. We need more events on the fundamental side, e.g., agreement on the block size, that would help with the adoption and thus attract new money. Without that we can forget it.

Blocksize agreement will surely be a pump, but likely not stable and short lived. There should be some good innovation or startup that pumped the price to a higher, stable high.

Be ready!

We are ready, and i expect that the bitcoin price will be much higher comparing with the actual price, i have a feeling that the bitcoin price will be increased before the halving period.

$1k this year can get fullfilled in other ways lol.

All it takes is some random surge of buy orders to pump something up basically. But I get what your point for natural growth.. and for natural growth it takes prob many more years.

Perhaps we may see a price this high, after the halving, but certainly not before the halving.
Even towards the halving i am very sceptic at this 1k value.

It means the price has to double.. which is quite unlikely.

you never know though lol.

I mean the price was $300ish and ever since the whole halving hype and people are being more aware of it cause the price jump.

It can go to that level if we saw a bunch of new buyers but this would be obviously short lived.

Talking about the pumps. Look at the last pump in November 2015. That is quite good example. It took us in no time from $300 to $500. We didn't hold that level and immediately went back to $350.
Check the volume of that pump and see how much effort it took. Now, going from $400+ to $1k is a hell lot of way. It would take a much bigger pump than that from the last November. Plus many people on the way, say above $500, would start taking profits. I see it hardly feasible without attracting new money, or bringing back Wally.

I guess this recent sell-off will bring a bit of reality to all the hot heads from this topic. $1000 is very unrealistic this year, unless we have really positive, fundamental developments. Based on halving alone we won't make it!

Very unrealistic. If you look at the current value 400 the price would go have to times 2.5 > 250% which is just to big. I for one am aiming for a price around the 500 dollar.
Will make sure to have some sell orders ready.

That is right, it is unrealistic now if we could reach $1000, the only development that people are expecting is the halving, if the price go lower this coming months then probably the halving would just pull the price up to where it is right now and not to the moon.. but lets hope for the best, anyway the year has just began...

$1000 as prediction is low compared to some people thinking the price will go to $2000-$5000 this year. These people are either trolling or living in a fantasy world. The halving plus good news about the block size drama will surely cause the price to go to at least $600 this year.

Well yes. The price has to double to achieve such a price. Don't expect it to happen. At best i see the price going to 600 when the halving will be taken in effect.
But that's very optimistic...

To me, $500-600 is the maximum price range we can achieve, based on halving only. If there are no other fundamental events around this time, e.g., final agreement on block size, etc., there will be plenty disappointed holders wanting to get rid of their bitcoins quickly. the rest you may write yourself...

I am really in favour of creating sci-fi subsection on this forum, and all 2016 predictions of $2k and above should land there automatically. It would help to keep the speculation subsection a bit more reasonable.
Otherwise, it is just pure guessing, not even worth reading.

In my opinion the amount of 1000 dollar can be reached easy this year due to the halving that is coming.
I think its just a matter of time the halving will let the bitcoin price jump, I'm very sure of that.
Although it will maybe for a moment it will hit this amount the point is to sell it than on the right time of course.

I do not think the bitcoin can reach this amount this year, I think the maximum it can reach this year will be near the 800 dollar.
The bitcoin has a good future but I think this will be shown in 2020 when there will come another halving, its of course just a prediction but I'm just thinking this.

Bitcoin prices surely will appreciate slowly but 800 target for this year may be more optimistic. It is almost 100% hike from the current price level so I don't think, it will go so much but most likely it may cross 600+ by this year end. Lot discussion on halving but not sure how much it will impact on price sudden jump.

Im positive that the price of bitcoin will rise again when it comes to the current situation.
Whales will be whales and they are controlling the market price if they want to bring it up to a 1000$ they can do it...
