Should Bitcoin even have a future?

Now that I've gotten your attention, I promise there's a method to my madness. We've all been arguing over Bitcoin XT and (now) Bitcoin Classic while ignoring that there's a real world outside of Bitcointalk and the endless schemes to get more Bitcoin. In the grand scheme of things, it's not even really all that important whether Bitcoin stands a chance of destroying traditional banks as long as Bitcoin or whatever replaces Bitcoin if it stumbles can carve out its own niche. But we're marching toward a world where things are going to be moving pretty fast in matters that don't necessarily have to do with economics and finances, except for maybe who's going to be holding the moneybags. Is it going to be us, or is it going to be the big banks, or is it going to be some Third World tyrant who may have gotten a little too big for his britches and doesn't have a graceful way out? What I'm getting at here is, are we absolutely sure we're making all the right strategic moves to make sure cryptocurrencies have a meaningful, sustainable future instead of just being seen as a funny little gimmick that went the way of Beanie Babies in a few decades? Should we be making alliances with other up-and-coming, innovative technologies to make sure we can achieve our long-term goals? This is something we'll have to consider if we want Bitcoin to have any kind of a future.

Surely the steps in the right directions were taken since long time ago to ensure sustainable future for BTCitcoin (thanks to developers). We never get to see the whole picture as most works are done in back-end. Regarding making alliances with other up-and-coming, innovative technologies my answer is a big YES as this would drastically help into bringing in a whole new market for BTCitcoin and make it even more known and popular while making it even stronger to last longer.

I am sure that bitcoin will exist for longer time than we have imagined even when its value will be very low. Blockchain is self stable and self operating platform so there will be nothing like all of sudden bitcoin will disappear.

I think in the short - mid term bitcoin still has a very bright future. It is still defining the way we will use crytpo currencies and blockchain in our lives in the future.

In the long term, it is likely to get replaced by superior tech. But this will not be something that is available today. Those alternatives are mainly gimmicks to draw in the money to unload their premines on. The real needs will become clear when bitcoin really hits mainstream or atleast decent adoptation worldwide.

While it may be true that making alliances with future innovative techs will help in ensuring the future of bitcoin, it's also true that government taking control can lead to a "different future" or could even hasten the demise of it.
We are already witnessing the attempt of government in ending bitcoin anonymous transactions in disguise of clamping down terrorism funding. If they were to succeed, we would be seeing a whole new different future from what the crypto community envisioned.

We already made alliances with enough merchants and big institutions and companies to make it work {Dell / Microsoft / Overstock ....} Once you have

a merchant network accepting a payment option, and you have a way to trade, you are already geared for bigger things. The uncertainties are more on

the regulatory side, than anything else. The technology is rock solid and secure... so there should be no reason to worry.

This will mostly be due to the fact that the top crypto-currency failed because of reason X (or multiple reasons); what's to stop others from failing in the same way?

this is what i always say to people who are looking for something that replaces bitcoin. in the case that bitcoin fails, nobody is going to look for an alternative (which is a copy of the thing that we are assuming failed) because the thing that caused the failure of such a huge crypto as bitcoin will have the same effect on its copies.

Ofcourse Bitcoin will have a future later. I think Bitcoin will have a good future. But you never know what can happen in the future.
The world is becoming more digital and that why I think that Bitcoin will be more worth later and have a good future.
