No it's not a disease that is like dengue. Dengue can be cured with medicines. Gambling addiction, on the other hand, can't. It's a mental sickness and dengue is a health sickness. It's much harder to cure someone that has mental sickness because it would take time and practice to do so. Gambling addicts have to attend seminars and meet up with other individuals that suffer from the same sickness which is addiction. If they do it by themselves, it would be a really really tough battle and the chance of them actually succeeding is very low.

You simply just can't say "I want to quit gambling" and then be cured the next day.

You are right that it can't be cured with medicine like other diseases but there are many solutions:
If he normally takes money from his bank account even though you told him to stop he doesn't let him use all money and of course one day it will end he may realise the mistake he made and stop the addiction.
Even if he still continues to gamble I think the best thing is to take him to a psychologist.

If you too often lose, of course you get sickness, but if you got big victory, you never sick. I think this is depends of the result. Many people complain when lose but they forget after get win.

Much better to say that if you gamble too often then you can get sickness, body sickness, mental sickness and other sickness that can be lead for gambling too much. And I can relate also when people that has sickness when they win, they are making it as a cure and their sickness is becoming gone a little by little.

It start with the mind sickness, when you have that, your body will also depreciate and you will be sick. I would not want to be in that situation in the future that's why I made sure I am being responsible in gambling. We have to be man enough to accept our loses, in that way, we can easy move on and still enjoy the game. it's not about selfcontrol, it won't change much for me, the only way i see is changing attitude and prefering to do something else, make something else more important in the centre of your life, gambling come from being greedy for me, if you cna live a happy life without being addicted to money you are half way to succeed

From the start of gambling a person can go back to stop the gambling but if they will spend more time in gambling then they will be addicted and will not go back to stop the gambling. that is the case of most gamblers that is we see some gamblers quit the gambling while others cannot.
