I do not think that gambling should be considered a sickness because when you get sick you do not know that you get sick.
Gambling happens because people decide for them selves to gamble so they are making them selves sick if you ask me.

Yeah. It's like this.. If someone is addicted to eating chocolates and it gives them diabetes, you don't put the blame on chocolates but to the person's attitude towards eating chocolates. The sickness comes from the person's non control over it. Same way with gambling. Gambling ia just there. It doesn't care if we gamble or not. It's us that would determine gambling's effects.

Yeah, it is true nothing can be sickness it's all on our mind and our attitude towards that thing, if we are able to control on over ourself than nothing can be sickness, so that I also gambling is not a sickness that are we who made this so bad.

But usually while gambling we are unable to control ourselves especially our emotions. I agree gambling must be a psychological based activity so it always targets our emotions. When we are out of control of our emotions, we can consider ourselves suffered by some disease, the root cause of that disease must be gambling.

Yes it can be considered as sickness but it can be cured

1. Only excessive gambling is harmful. Addiction in every form could be called a sickness, psychcal additicion is not an exeption here.
2. If you truly are addicted gambler then you CAN'T be 100% cured. It is the same same as other several types of addictions: i.e drugs and alcohol. Maybe you won't drink - but you will have 'it' inside you.

The past would always haunt you. Even those people who have been to rehabilitation still has a chance of becoming addicted again that's why they are advised to visit their therapist every now and then. They have to keep track of your current status. Most of the time, it's problems that makes us go back to our previous addictions.

Regardless of what addiction that is, you still have the tendency to go back to your previous addiction most especially if you face the same things that made you addicted to it before.

This is why; I think the most difficult thing for an addict to do is not to quit his addiction but to remain clean for the rest of his live, because that demon will always try to find a way to come to the surface again

Gambling is a sickness if a gambler is not able to control it for himself. Because there are some gamblers that are becoming addicted to gambling and most of the them are not able to control their emotions. first time, that person is normal and just play gambling like other people, and after time to time and that person gets much of winning, then that person become to addicted of gambling because that person can win much of money, then finally that person become more addicted until no one can control that person to stop gambling.

but for me, i think addicted of gambling is not sickness but its only situations that we only think and act for gambling, nothing we want to do beside gambling and its a bad habit for that person and its should be help by the family for the closest person and the friends of that person. if its necessary, we need called or bring that person into some rehabilitions to help that person.

There are different degree for a certain gambling addiction but when the addiction is really serious that is the time you call it a sickness as you would not know how to control your emotion in gambling which would result to failure to manage your bankroll properly and might bring you to a bigger loses.
