Hello Guys,

I am starting to build elastic website. Everyone can help elastic website! We can build elastic website on this template, we need contents, graphics
and ideas... Lets work on it together..

This is github repo: https://github.com/Bilader/xelsite

Preview: https://bilader.github.io/xelsite/

From the perspective of a miner:
  • Where can I download the software to mine Elastic?
  • How will I get paid?
  • How will I know if it is cost effective for me to mine Elastic?

We now need to start looking at Elastic from an end user perspective and I'm sure the questions above only scratch the surface of what the end users (research scientists and miners) will want to know and what needs to be put up on the website.

You would be paid in XEL.

So do we know if it will be as simple as with the SETI software from years ago, where you just download it and it chugs away in the background?  Also will the wallet for the miner's XEL be online or incorporated into the Elastic software that they download?

The miner that I wrote needs to be built / installed the same as sgminer, cpuminer, etc...you clone it from github, then build it.  It does not chug along in the background, it runs as fast as it can to solve the work problems (of course you can limit the # of threads).

This goes back to my earlier point...you can have a miner that works exactly like the SETI software...you just need to write it.  This is the only miner I plan on writing and honestly, I really can only put another week or two into it...I've spent way too much time on this already...time for me to move on to other things.

Coralreefer, no one doubts the massive amount of work you've put into the project and without you and EK we wouldn't be anywhere as close to a finished product as we are.

Now we need to tell the world about the project and work out how best to explain it clearly and concisely.  No one is questioning the quality of your work, far from it.

I'm trying to get clear in my mind what it is we've got and how it functions, so I can explain it as clearly as possible to the rest of the world on the Project's website.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but doesn't XEL need to be a set, specific value?

If I'm a researcher with a set budget, I need to know how much carrying out the research costs.

If XEL doesn't have a set value, how would a researcher be able to calculate the cost?

Doesn't that in turn mean that an XEL must reflect a specific unit of work.  How is that calculated?

I think that the open market will set the value . If someone wants to have it's work done fast he will set a good bounty . This offcourse will come in the future , first projects to be solved by XEL network will be the lucky ones ( from a point of cost ) i believe .

coralreefer, you have done more than enough work. We really appreciate your support. I can write a step by step guide to help newbies to download and compile the miner. Is there a linux version or only windox?

@coralreefer, I will be finished with the grammar by tomorrow (meaning, I will have caught up with the current state of your miner).
i will then try everything and summarize the "status quo". I cannot write more at this moment, I need to keep working  Wink

See you tomorrow!

The project has a working miner by coralreefer , EK is close to finish the updated PL . Everything is in good track . No specific date for the mainnet release .

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Did you understand anything what elastic does?
XEL, to explain it to someone who seems to be not able to read, is in other words an Appcoin for Elastic.
You buy computation power to solve cryptogrphical problems and the so called miner gives the computation power to the decentralised network, it solves tiny parts of the "problem" on the mining rig who's running our "miner" - for this work he would be paid proportional to his sum of work he done. The coins to pay the miners comes form the researchers that give work to the Network and want a soloution.
So this is one of the main diffences to golem or anything like it, every "Miner" is the datacenter...

And there are no third party real-world-datacenter that could get shutdown or anything else what could kill the system.
True decentralisation!

Golem has the potential to be a big scam, but we don't!
(I don't say that golem is a scam project - but there's a possebilty that it could turn out as one - anybody here rembembering hashprofit.com - ProfitCoin  Undecided I lost a few btc there. Since that I'm really careful by trusting such centralised structures. Because it is the infrasturture that gives an appcoin a value - without it, it would fail)

New signature to come =D

on Ubuntu 14.04
Walk through on github didn't work for me. First of, the docker thing is unclear. I had it installed, but it turned out it was a different docker.
afterwards, the 'run docker' just gave me a hash number and nothing more. Docker kept running in the background, I was unable to turn it off other than uninstalling it.

well, after "run docker" gave you a hash number, you could have accessed elastic using your regular browser by visiting "http://127.0.0.1:6876". I will go through the instructions soon and fix any "inaccuracies".

But the currently running version is a "throwaway version" anyway ... the new grammar is almost done and the testnet will be reset afterwards.

I did that, the page couldn't connect. Just a blank screen.

I know what the purpose of XEL is and that's why the term "miner" seemed out of place. And what you describe I would not call a miner as it can confuse people. A worker app or something would be more appropriate
You could have clarified it as you did without being a jackass.

I think it is a miner since there is work to be done and a reward to be earned . The model is similar to proof of work . But i also think that we are talking about small details here .

Seems iml got a point in the next post .
