...so to say that he was paid for the review is genuinely - to use a popular phrase - VERY MISLEADING.  Wink
Getting a discount on hardware received, getting bumped to the front of the queue and getting special $400 shipping is not in any way a form of compensation or payment? Just a freebie with no strings attached? Should the other developers who placed an order feel bad of not getting some kind of deal offered?

If it's not payment, what is it? I'm not suggestion we in any way downplay Jeff's credentials or achievements (sorry to drag him personally into this) but you have to stand back and look at the facts. As a consumer/customer you are being plaid.

I have no problem with these marketing tactics, but at least see them for what they are...

This stuff happens all the time, just put on the the sunglasses (Ref They Live, 1988, John Carpenter)

Please take a look here: http://bitcoin.org/. You'll see Jeff Garzik listed as one of the core developers. So, he's one of the guys thanks to whom you and I have now the opportunity to post into this forum and (maybe) enjoy the world of bitcoin. If I were you I would stop now and present some public apologies to mr. Garzik.

Yifu,
So, batch #2 units will have 6 slots for hashing modules.
1. When we have option to order additional modules?
2. Will there be an option to load units with all modules when we order ASIC's from batch #2, #3?
I think at least question #2 need to be answered before preorder starts, because perhaps additional funds in bitcoins need to be injected...
Very interested in the answer to #2.

Will the batch #2 units include a 4th module? Or does the $200 bump in price pretty much mean that we missed out on the early-adopter discount?

I have red somewhere that 2nd bach will have 6 "slots" for modules instead of 4, so at least greater ability to expand. Maybe they'll populate 4 slots (88GH/s), let's hope Smiley

I have a question about the "payment processor"
Do we have to sent BTC through it, or we can simply sent them directly from our BTC wallet?
thanks  Smiley

My guess is that it will work in a similar fashion to BitPay, where you start your order and WalletBit gives you an address to send BTC to...then you send your coins from whatever wallet you have to the provided address.
I'm not sure Avalon is doing direct payments in BTC.

I don't think so, because thats the benefit of a payment processor: Not dealing with wich one has already payed and for which order is was.

Just checked out http://launch.avalon-asics.com/ and saw that now there is also a tab about a #3 shipping. Is that the great announcement they were talking about yesterday?

Not sure if sarcastic or not Wink

Anyway, interesting to see they switch payment providers too. I wonder whether Bitpay offered them a good deal or they just want to support all three.

Empty Module Slot: 3

You probably want to phrase that as "3 populated slots, 3 empty slots"?

What is the ETA for doing Batch #2?  Within 24 hours  Within 12 hours or over 24 hours?    This will allow people to adjust their weekend plans.

Thanks,
D

I like the changes.

I hope you'll give us plenty of warning prior to opening the 2nd batch order window.

Nice. For $3,000 (not including shipping) you can have a 900 watt 'desktop' sized box running at 132GH/s. I suppose that's decent if you're thinking of short term gains.

Does the Terms of Sale page keep looping for everyone else too? I've tried 3 browsers and the "I understand..." button just goes takes me back to the top of the page  Undecided
