Ok, Next silly question. I installed the Novacoin_QT on a PC.  Now I am trying to figure out how to get my wallet moved from my phone over to my PC.  Can someone describe the steps or point me to a location with how to do this?  For some reason my phone app is throwing an error "Error Loading block database" and to click OK.  Any way to recover from that error and to move my Novacoin wallet to a PC?  Thanks.

Hi. Have you rooted your device or not?

Unfortunately, it's only available if you have root privileges.

If your wallet is able to start then you can dump your private keys or wallet file and save it to some less restricted location. Click the menu button and then choose either "Backup wallet" or "Export wallet" option.

Unfortunately, Android creates a separate user account for every application, so besides the app itself only root user will be able to extract the data from there.

I see that your wallet is unable to start, so you need to remove broken blockchain files somehow. If this is not an urgent matter then I'd recommend you to wait for the next release, it will include automatic removal of broken blockchain database files. This feature will be triggered in case if recent startup attempt has been failed. I think that this will be very helpful in situation like yours.

P.S. Don't remove the application, please, otherwise you're risking to lose your data.

Thanks Balthazar,  No hurry here, so I will leave things alone and just wait for the update to the Android app.  I will just use the new address that the new wallet created on the PC for my mining and keep my fingers crossed that the update will fix the broken blockchain issue and that I can get back into my funds there.  Lesson learned here... I will make sure I have backups and options on multiple machines going forward.    Hopefull(fingers crossed) I can get back into the app so that I can make that backup after the update.

Yep. But honestly, I don't like that FreeBSD 11-CURRENT is unable to verify a checksum of the good old git-revision based ports. As the user of FreeBSD-CURRENT I have to think about this when I'm going to compile another version of novacoind... So, I'd say that it's a kind of personal issue.

Fresh build has been uploaded to play market, Google says that it will become available to users during the next few hours. As it was promised earlier, this version automatically removes the broken blockchain files in case of startup failure.

Windows builds were published as well:

Cool,  I updated the app and it looks like it is downloading a new copy.  So hopefully it all syncs up and I can transfer everything out of that wallet...  I tried to backup the wallet, but looks like it is restricted to where it can make the backup file so I am not able to find the file since I don't have root on the phone.  So I will just move off of this app on my phone just to be safe.  Thanks for the update and the help.  This looks like it is correcting the corrupted file issue.

The update worked to fix the corruption issue on Android and I was able to get my funds out of that wallet.  Doesn't look like I can make the backup on that device without root on the device.  It will make the backup file, but I cannot get to the location of the files and save them elsewhere.  So I decided to just get off of the Android app.  Thank you for your help!

hey i notice the daemon does not have the getstakinginfo call like other PoS coins do.

if one wants to just run the daemon, is it possible to stake as well? is there an entry in the conf that needs to be specified like daemon=1 or staking=1?

any advantage to running daemon as opposed to qt when it comes to stake rewards?

NovaCoin was the first PPC fork, but not a clone!
new versions ale coded standalone, not from new ver. of PPC.
 
major changes:

1. Scrypt chashing!
2. initial reward of 100 not 10000
3. slower reward drop
PPCoin cuts a half from reward for every 16x diff adjustment.
NovaCoin cuts a half from reward for every 64x diff adjustment.
4. POW difficulty adjusted for scrypt
5. POS difficulty adjusted for 100 times less coins.
6. ROI for POS changed to 0.05 coin per 1 coinyear [dynamic from 4.1]
