Should the fan support be taken into consideration when it comes to placing the bets, does the current situation change much in this regard in your opinion?
Some time ago we had a discussion here, initiated by tyKiwanuka, about what constitutes the so-called "home advantage". Several studies were also quoted and discussed in the thread. In short summary: The fans play a big role, but they're not the only ones. Issues such as travel stress, familiar surroundings (players' cabins, the familiar field, ...) are just as important. But in my opinion, the most decisive point of the home advantage is the so-called "referee bias", which is mainly caused by the fact that referees subconsciously prefer the home team in order to avoid being targeted by the fans: The second article lists a lot of factors which influence home advantage. According to this article the so called "Referee Bias" is the most influental factor on home team advantage: There is overwhelming evidence that referees decisions are biased towards the home team. Moskowitz and Wertheim (2012) found that the referee was the most influential factor on home advantage, and that home teams gained a small bias from the referee. They did make it clear that this is not done consciously, instead, the referees were affected subconsciously by the emotion of a home crowd. So if both the support of fans is lost and the so-called "referee bias" is weakened, it is quite possible that away teams suddenly have a better chance of winning. Statistics and evaluations as soon as the season is over are certainly very interesting.

I've been closely watching the outcome of this week's MultiMaster and just wanted to post the picture below. This may be the first and last time that I'll be able to get the top spot of its leader board. Because I'm sure that I'll be knock out of it once when we get more results for the other matches that it includes. Chinese DotA really ruined my bets this week.

I'm with 10 correct picks before the final game between Dallas Fuel and Paris Eternal later today, how many do you have so far @JanpriX? Chinese DotA really ruined my bets this week. I did fairly well for once lol, only missed on Royal Never Give Up, that was quite a surprising loss against Aster. I don't think even if i get the last game right 11 will be enough to win, probably 12.

I'm not sure if this question has been asked by other user previously. Is the goal counted as shot on goal? I know in real life it's counted. But since I just saw 'player shots on goal' category on Sportsbet, maybe it's bit different?

While some might be happy that football is returning, I wanted to ask something about it. It seems to be a fact that fan support has significant impact on the way the team is playing. Some research even suggests that the team is 20% more likely to lose without the support of the fans ( see here). While that research was based on the time in Argentina when only the supporters of the home team were allowed in the stadiums which is not what's going on right now, do you think the outcome of the games could be different if the fans were present? Should the fan support be taken into consideration when it comes to placing the bets, does the current situation change much in this regard in your opinion? Fans support is a plus for the team but in these case both team doesn't have physical supports so they are equal with this matter and the only thing we need to consider is how the roosters are in condition to play right now, we now the quarantine days is so long and provably some of them got rusty for being jailed at the house for a while. If theirs a lacking player upon their comeback maybe that can affect on betting since maybe the other half who's complete may get the higher bet placed. That is why I always supported the idea that there should be "some" fans, not really a lot but we are talking about a HUGE stadium and putting like 100 people there couldn't be worse than right now would it? Plus teams could decide on who will come, it could be literally family of the players or their friends or whatever which means the people who will come to view the games would be known people to the team and not "some fans". That way you would have some support. Right now we are talking about a system where league mostly ended with fans, but the rest will be without fans so if there is any changes the teams could just blame not having any fans at all, and use that an excuse for their losses and all that. I am not sure if this could be done but it looks like not that much more dangerous.

Sure is nice to have football soccer back! Another one tomorrow- Bayer large favorite will probably be my play. Not a bad bet imo. Werder Bremen are in desperate need of points to avoid relegation (first in 40 years if i'm not mistaken). I really want to go for both teams to score but it's hard to back up team who has scored only 8 goals in their previous 11 home games. As for the winner, my wild guess is Kevin Harvick, bookmakers have him 2nd or 3rd behind Kyle Busch. Harvick wins The Real Heroes 400 in NASCAR's returnHaha i nailed it, Harvick just won The Real Heroes 400 at Darlington, odds for him to win the race was @7.50 and i wish i've taken it. But this being my first time betting on NASCAR i went with him only making the top 3 @2.63

After all the games, I only got 10 wins (if we include the cancelled one). How about you? Someone got 13 wins, pretty insane. On to the next Multi Master! Blessing in disguise I must say.

I got 11 correct in the end as well which came as a big surprise to me. I have never watched a single overwatch game and didn't had the will to check some stats. I picked all of them just by the odds. Added few surprises where odds were closer to even. This was probably the MM with least surprises. I don't remember there was ever a situation with this many people on 11+ picks.

Good question to ask but I am pretty sure it is. Can't remember the game but I bet on an Over that was just won counting shots on goal that included the single goal that was scored. My follow up question is like last night Lewandowski scored a penalty but the half time stats on my tracker showed 0 shots on goal. So penalties don't count?

I had the same idea, but the first thing that was questionable was who do you allow to enter and who not? For example, the team has stadium capacity of 30.000 and 10.000 season ticket holders. How can you say that 3k are allowed to enter and 7k are not? It could be stretched - so for example the number of season ticket holders is divided in groups, but then again you will have complaints because one group would get tickets for the game against Bayern and the other one against Werder. That's all without talking about safety issues - although I agree that a stadium of capacity of 50.000 people can for sure take 5.000 fans without any safety issues.

It could be done for sure if there is a will to do it. In my country we started to open cinemas and theaters. People have to sit with 2 empty seats between them and in every other row. That are closed spaces with ventilation. Stadium is much bigger and open space without ventilation and therefore much smaller risk. If a stadium has 50k seats. You open 5-10k seats or as much as proclaimed safe. Then you cancel all subscriptions and have a lottery to get tickets. Same as for world cup games. No away fans to minimize traveling. If you want to reward season ticket holders you either open lottery just for them or you allocate 70% for season ticket holders and 30% for all other supporters or whatever seems right for your club. You can even give out mandatory face masks in club colors. Raise the money for the ticket if necessary.

To be fair, I really did not understand the 'no fans allowed' rule. Stadiums are huge, in Croatian league there are so many empty seats anyway, our league can normally continue to have fans as it used to even before the corona outbreak. In other leagues something like your idea could easily be implemented, if we can be in cinemas and shops there's really no reason not to let us go to a stadium. It's practically more risky to go anywhere else.

Someone in another competition in my local community (just CS:GO) was saying also that all the favorites won in the Asian round of games, and now some of them are being investigated (even though they were favourites),,, because some guy won big by picking all the right picks, so organizers are not happy. Seems esports is harder to have fair games!

Damn me, I went for a 1X bet, was counting on either a home upset from a team that must win 2 games in hand to get the relegation play off spot, but so far trailing 1-2 to Leverkusen. Guess some teams don't really do well with negative reinforcment heh heh.
@XarXy Actually that's really not a bad bet at all I'd definitely have gone for it had I seen it. 5 corners with a third of the match gone though, good luck;)

There is a no "fans" allowed rule and I get that because you can't always keep those people in check neither, you can't really make people stay away from each other and you can't be sure they are virus free, they all have to be checked as well and so forth.
However I agree that there could have been family and friends of players, I mean just get your brothers and sisters and mother and father and 3 close friends and there are 22 players on the pitch, plus the staff and the benc and you got yourself like 200-250 people on that stadium easily. And considering the stadiums are super big, you could literally separate them 20 feet from each other and you would still have a ton of place left as well. So I agree that there should be no "fans" watching but there could be close people to players.
