Question regarding the hack. On the following article:

Ned mentions that we can log in using our reddit accounts. Here is what he says:

Within the next 48 hours, Steemit will begin to allow all newly secured accounts to reset their passwords simply by logging in with the same Facebook or Reddit credentials that were used to register in the first place. This easy process will work for the vast majority of the potentially compromised accounts. All of these account holders will regain full access to their funds and their original account name.

I'm probably being completely dense but HOW are we to do this?

I tried putting in my reddit password into the login but it didn't work (because my reddit password has less than 16 chars). I went to the create account link, linked to reddit, and gave steemit permission to access my reddit - but all it said was "you already have an account" - which I knew anyway - it wouldn't let me get any further, just linked to the login page which didn't work with either my steemit password or my reddit password - the question is HOW do we use reddit to access our compromised accounts and secure them?

Can someone explain?

If you created a steemit account with reddit or facebook, at some point you were asked to create a long 16char password, I think thats the password you need to enter [EDIT] Maybe I'm wrong and you need to wait some more time, 48 hours haven't passed yet

Yes but powering down takes lot of time

steemit now become famous with new user join with them. i think for next few month, steemit will be like fb, like other social media, which will allow member to make some earning. i see on the blogging post on my friends account, there are many story that they share and this is good. while we share knowledge or everything, we can make some earning and then we withdraw it.

Can only withdraw if you accumulate 10x the starting amount. This can be done by posting, voting or mining.

really annoying to hear this question over and over. As if steem was just welfare and you sign up in order to easily cash out 40 Dollars without doing anything for it... ridiculous...

All the passwords had to be 16 char, with numbers, so they were all strong. Still no idea about how to get into my account with reddit. It won't accept my reddit password or my steemit 16 char password. And looking at my account in read only mode it hasn't been compromised at all, so not sure what the problem is.

I think it was an ordinary theft, through third-party software, such as mining or keylogger/trojan that is physically stolen a couple of login + password
