Newegg has two 480 placeholders listed, XFX and VisionTek:

Nice but I am rather surprised by the size of the card, I thought it would have been much smaller.  They list it as 11.25 inches long, the same as reference 290's

That result is as expected. that is due to the 256 bit memory bus. I think my R9 390 and Nano still have some lives.
The wattage difference though! I can't wait to see their flagship cards, the 490(x) and beyond.

the wattage and price difference is good. But it seems it is the same efficiency as the R9 nano after undervoltage.

I did a little more research.

They are selling versions of the the 8 GB version of the  RX 480 for $254 to $306.  It may be priced $249 or higher on newegg.  I do not expect them to sell the 8GB for $200.  Probably a 4gb will sell for $200.  GPU Specs and RAM Specs may have variance as each Manufacturer (Gigabyte, Sapphire, MSI) may very well set different clocks.

Specs for 8GB
1120 MHZ core clock
1266 MHZ Boost Clock

2304 (36 CU) Stream processors
256-Bit Memory Interface
GDDR5
Effective Memory Clock 2000 MHZ (8.0 GBPS)

Specs were pulled from newegg but they removed them.

EDIT:  Ok lowest price I see for the 8GB is $239.99 on newegg but it has a strike-through line on the price.  Prices are $239.99 to $249.99.

since not only etheruem mining matter anymore, i'm curious about neoscrypt and lyra for the 480

if it is not at least 750 for the former and 25M for the latter, it's not a good buy for me regardless of ethereum perf...

I will buy RX 480 just only for playing games maybe i will mine some other coin but i am seeing its not profitable,  i am thinking to buy 2 of 480 . What do you say for gaming its a better option or not?

1) The big mystery is the R9 380 pricing, which hasn't changed much.

a) The only supplier that appears to be doing any 380 series flushing is Gigabyte.

b) The current average 380 price appears to say that the 480 is a $300+ card.

c) You would think that everyone would be flushing out the 380 inventory.

Also AMD has been quoted as saying that the NA 480 inventory count for kickoff is 8000 units.

This probably amounts to about 1000 units per supplier.

8000 units probably takes care of the must-have-every-new-PC-gizmo fanboy.

That is only indication that card for $200 is sucks for games. And yes - the only application of video cards is playing games, not mining, not CUDA calculations - only games

I still plan to pick up a RX 480 myself at least one initially.  Even if that hashrate is correct the 280x still uses more power and not only that none of the mining software has been optimized for the Polaris as it's not even released yet.

I might get one, to test it. But it seems I do not have to sell my 390 and nano at present, they can mine profitably.

That's about 10 minutes, perhaps 15 MAX, if they all went to NewEgg.

I was AFRAID of "very low availability" issues with this card, 8000 units for all of NA is ..... very very low.

Perhaps in 2-3 months they'll get production ramped up enough to have a prayer of handling demand.

It is not a poroblem for me. I will keep on using my 390 and nano. I shall let others test the 480. I might buy 470 later.

I think we'll get something like 24 MH/s. At least I hope, because I will massively invest in those, maybe as most as 90% of my capital.
