http://www.pcworld.com/article/3098825/components-graphics/sapphire-nitro-rx-480-review-polaris-rethought-and-refined.html

Saphire has their Nitro+ RX 480 coming soon. Article says next week at an unspecified date. The article was posted 3 days ago based on comments

I am just wondering what does factory overclocked cards do to mining if say I were to flash the bios with someones custom bios that is pulling 28 MH/s?

The best card would be the 470. Most likely speeds will be almost the same with ETH but it will be much much cheaper and use less power.

Time is also money

And AMD is keeping us in the dark on the 470. In the meantime RX 480's without the PCIe problem are coming before the FE 470's let alone custom 470's with better coolers.

The rumour of the price is that it is about $179, so it is just $20 cheaper than the 4GB RX 480. I hope it will be cheaper.

4gb for $149.99 plus tax, apparently.
http://wccftech.com/amd-rx-470-460-leaked-pictured/

I am not sure that they will have 4gb at launch. They had very few of 480 4gb cards.
we shall see.

If the Ethereum hashing is as fast as the 480, then it is a good price to buy. We are not very sure about it.

Hi people, it's been a while since I have last time GPU mined coins, but I got myself 2 480s for start and will try to be part of Ethereum world...

I got ASRock H81 Pro BTC, but I have read mixed opinions on risers for GPUs.

I have 10 left from my BTC GPU mining days, but those are ribbon powered risers, not the USB type that is most used now days.

I have read about Power drain issues trough PCI-E connector on MB with early drivers and 480s, but it is solved now with new drivers if I am now wrong...

Question is, since MB have 2 MOLEX on it, is it a must to use USB risers or I can stick with ribbon ones I have with me? I have read somewhere that since this MB have those 2 molex on it, it can be used with non powered risers also.

Any guides?

Thanks in advance

You might be ok with 2 GPU.   But if you overclock or run more than  2 x 480 on a h81 btc, I think you will need powered usb risers.

Otherwise you risk melting wires.

Thanks, so is there any significant difference between powered ribbon and USB risers?

Some say that ribbon cables emits EM interference somewhere at 500MHz range (probably depends on ribbon length). Guy has been warned by some kind of telecomunication company. He build Faraday cage around his rig after that, to prevent interference. There was topic about that on bitcointalk, can't find it now.

So, will two 480s be 75% faster than one Nano in Vertcoin mining? This determines whether I sell my Nano or not...

the Rx480 only mines vertcoin at 7.5MH
the GTX1070 mines it at about 36MH (40MH with overclocking)

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461

Does a Nano hash at 4.4 MH/s then? I dunno, honestly.

powered ribbon risers tend to fail earlier after many installs, its the bending of the cable back and forth that does it in. the connections/leads inside each section of the ribbon can sever and the ribbon will cease to function or worse fry/short your card. i would use them still but be more careful and inspect carefully between each install.

usb risers utilize a usb cable between two separate little pc boards to house the usb connections. they have a longer reach for mounting and are generally more reliable.

have not heard about the em interference, thats an interesting point.

Don't worry about LBRY, it won't much profitable much longer.

If 0.1% of the Ethereum hashing go to LBRY, it will not be profitable. The price could also drop a lot.
