Getting about 26-27 MH on mine with basic settings that can be adjusted via crimson. Ill measure exact power draw in a bit, but running around 80c with very quiet fan profile (50% fan speed).

This should easily hit 30 MH once non reference cards hit.

I concur i ran 5 cards i picked up today and posted some pictures on my results

be careful with oc, 480 can push 85w+ through pciex at stock clocks

Thx guys for all the reports and photos! Thermal flow ;-) so the chips will have to use blank spaces to dissipate;-)

the price is quite tempting, but the power issue based on some reviews. let's wait for other rx 480 OEM gpus for the fix of this issue. maybe a slight revision on the design of power management side.

Well, I will be waiting for them to fix that if it can even be fixed or waiting for the 470 for sure now. And I am now not trusting AMD here. Advertised such a tremendous power efficiency that is all a lie?

They stated 150 TDP

its inline with that , from the wall you lose efficency due to waste from the PSU which is why people are seeing 160-170 watts

ALl the folks expecting 100 watts to get 27 -28mhs were fooling themsleves although i hear the 1070 gtx gets 30 mhs for 120 watts but until they fix it to run on windows I'm not touching that.

As you said though the 470 will be the more interesting card if it can hit 23-24mhs at 120 watts it could be good, but I see posts of people expecting it to do that hashrate at 50-60 watts and i just laugh.

it's more than 30, much more, and still only for less than 150w, but for now it work that good only with linux, maybe already on windows with the last drivers, someone should try it

I understand the wall pull, but I am not looking to stress my motherboard that is already 7 years and still has plenty of years left in it. Either the videocardz link or the reddit mentioned 180 watts which just hits the point where the efficiency was well overhyped by AMD. That one other page may have found that 116 watts in GPUz could make 28 MH/s but 116 watts in the system should not translate to as much as 180 watts from wall.

Just FYI - the problem with reference 480 is that it stresses pcie power
just for comparison - 480 draws 80w in stock (up to 100w OC) from pcie connector (290x - 32w, 380x - 48w) this is 24/7 it will stress your motherboard 12v or USB/Ribbon riser power - so it might a good idea to wait and see what happens to reference/custom design in this regard
now - its 80w minimum per card - so 6 should draw at least 480W through risers - and even with molex splitting up in 2 separate 12V lines in PSU might burn you risers/card slots (some use molex to sata - which is much worse)
Just be really careful with multiple 480 rigs!

for comparison with 290x and 380x read here under Update 6 https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/4qfwd4/rx480_fails_pcie_specification/

Normally it is ATX power connector (12V pins) that gives up first. And you don't need six cards to do that, I have done it with only two gtx 750ti.

i presume those were without any 6 pin, just absorbing power from the pci-e

You are right. And without tdp mod.

Everyone can google "melted atx connector", we are about to see more of these.

You need the Asrock H61/81 pro btc and fill the two +12 V on the mother board or use powered risers now.

He's right. In a mining usage, you need specifical hardware, to deliver more power than the cards actually consume.

Here you can see 4 stock 480 are doing 710w per system - even if you count 80w for the system - its 158w per card!
So its nowhere near 112W GPU-Z is showing for eth mining - apparently its just ASIC (GPU) only and the rest 55W is board and memory - but its not showing it GPUz
Sure you are hoping for BIOS mods and undervolting - but that to be seen what hash and power draw could be achieved
so it should be 1028 W per 6 gpu system (will be a bit more with risers added and psu efficiency loss) - I got 630 for 6 1080 at 23mhs each and I get 730 with 6 1070 at 27mhs each for the whole system... (that includes 21W for the 3 noctua 140mm 3000rpm fans in the system)

did you managed to push the 1070 to the same hash as linux, on windows or still not possible? i see that the last drivers on win 10 are already wddm 2.1

Not yet - should be available next week, but yes - its easy to get over 30mhs with oc in Win 10 - but thats too much on memory - it will not hold/will get the board damaged
I prefer 27 at 105w Smiley

That doesn't fix the problem it just moves it to different connector. Molex, psu modular cable connectors both cable and psu side are next in line. Only real fix is new bios that limits the power drawn from pcie-slot/ riser. Or 8-pin pcie connector.
