Fuck You BFL

Gerade einen alten thread nach einer Info durchsucht... und was finde ich

we (my team and some other core people) consider BFL have not spend any money on ASIC development yet. BFL's business flow is: announce dreamlike specs -> taking pre-orders -> find people to development -> if succeed, release and shipment. if fail, run. BFL sell products at super low price because their customer take all risks.
so now BFL is just collecting money for their ASIC project and avoid current delivery pressure (means they are running out cheap FPGAs).
if this business model succeeded, i will classified this as a shame of human intelligence.

and let me explain what is the "now in final stage development" mean. in ASIC design flow, this means RTL design is nearly finish. as a SOC or some other complex ASIC, RTL design and testing will take most of the development time. but mining ASIC is not a RTL complex design, it is a high computing density chip. most of the work is physical design, packaging and thermal design. RTL is less than 10% of the entire work.

Haben die ihre backorder damals überhaupt aufgeholt oder konnten die Leute ihre Bestellung in ASIC umwandeln?

BFL hat irgendwo anscheinend eine Charge billige gebrauchte FPGAs bekommen. Ich denke daher lief das FPGA geschäft auch so schleppend, da es doch ein entsprechender Aufwand ist, die Dinger wieder auf ein anderes Board zu bekommen. Der Nachschub an billigen gebrauchten und brauchbaren FPGAs ist nicht unbegrenzt, sodass BFL die Lieferung einstellen musste.

Die Express-Lieferung ist mal wieder eine Sauerei, aber bis BFL tatsächlich liefert, werden sie vielleicht nochmal ein paar Preiserhöhungen oder Specänderungen machen. Vor 1-2 Wochen stand bei mir im Order System noch Express, gestern dann nur noch Standard. Wenn sie Geld brauchen setzen sie vermutlich alle die jetzt Express bestellen wieder auf Standard und verlangen nochmal Geld. Die ersten Kunden haben ja in BTC bezahlt und inzwischen sowieso die gesammte Preissteigerung verloren. Das nutzt BFL bis zum letzten Cent aus. Auch die Verweigerung der Rückzahlung in den neuen Bedingungen passt zum Bild. Da der Kurs gerade am fallen ist, drohen massig BTC Refund Requests, falls der Kurs auf 10-20 USD fällt.

Ich habe jetzt nochmal das Express Update per Paypal bezahlt und hole mir das Geld in 45 Tagen per Downgrade auf Standard Shippment wieder zurück, falls ich bis dahin von BFL nichts entsprechendes bekommen habe. Ich denke aber nicht, dass BFL in den nächsten 45 Tagen irgend etwas verschickt.

Wieviele chips sind da und wodrauf wird aktuell gewartet ? Liefertemin anzugeben bis wann man damit rechnen könnte + 14 Tage für zwischen fälle ect ...

Aber nen Groben plan sollten die "KUNDEN " oder INVestoren doch mal bekommen -.-

Hast du damals für Express bezahlt?

Laut deren Forum war es wohl so, dass das eine Korrektur ist, weil beim Order System Upgrade aus irgendnem Grund JEDER auf Express upgegraded wurde.

Stimmt schon das durch das neue System alle auf Express standen kann ich von mir und 2 anderen KOllegen bestätigen...

wenn wer aber wirklich express gekauft hatte weis ich nicht ob die auch wieder auf standard gesetzt wurden .. ich mache grundsätzlich screenshots..

Ursprünglich gab es keinen Express, dann sollte der Versand billiger werden und Express kam ins Spiel. Jetzt ist es wohl ohne Express gleich teuer geblieben und Express wird noch viel teurer. Egal, jetzt habe ich auch einen Screenshot und der Express wird in 1,5 Monaten wiederrufen, da ich nicht glaube, dass bis dahin etwas geliefert wird.

Sind die ersten ASICs mittlerweile irgendwo angekommen? Ich habe so auf die schnelle keine Meldung gefunden. Was genau versteht Butterfly Labs unter "shipping now"? "Soon" bedeutet ja scheinbar ca. 1 Jahr, also kann es sich bei "now" nur um Wochen handeln...

Ich hatte mal im Market angefragt. Dort ist ein Thread, in dem viele Käufer ihre Order angegeben haben. Erst wenn diese Liste sich mit Meldungen füllt, dass die Leute ihre Order erhalten haben, zählt das für mich tatsächlich als Shippment.

It's been a few weeks since the last update and a lot has happened since then.


As many of you know, we started shipping out a quantity of Jalapeno's (around 35 or so), about half of those went to developers and the media, the other half went to customers. They have been well received so far and everyone is happy with what they have received. In the meantime, we have been diligently working on the Little Singles, Singles and Minirigs.


This past weekend, we received in the new boards for the Little Single, Single and Minirig, pictured below. As you can see, the board redesign incorporates a total of 16 possible chips, as well as some power distribution changes. One of the more prominent changes is the fact that we have moved from barrel jack power to PCIe style Minifit Jr 6 pin connectors. Each board has two 6 pin connectors to provide power, and each board is intended to provide up to 60 GH/s hashing power.


We discovered some issues that we needed to resolve with the boards and had to change a few minor things. We tested them out on a hand modified board and they worked, so we've issued the redesign to the PCB house. The new boards are being finished today, the 6th of May, and should be ready this evening. We have more chips from the packager on the way to the assembly facility, and they should arrive on Thursday, the 9th of May. In the meantime, we will be testing and making sure the new board is functioning like we intend for when the chips arrive to the assembly facility. We don't have a count on the number of chips that will be arriving on Thursday as of yet.


The current board will support the hashrates ordered for Little Single and Single in one box, so single units will be shipped out for both the Little Single and the Single. The Minirig will most likely ship as two units (where as it was just one before) and possibly some Singles to bring it up to the full hashrate ordered. 5 GH/s miner production will continue concurrently with the rest of our product line. We are incorporating some changes into the new 5 GH/s miner to bring the heat and power usage down, and that will be incorporated as we go forward. Power usage on the new boards hasn't been tested yet as we are waiting for the revised board, so I don't have power figures for it yet.
