Hi I'm TLB and I have first looked at bitcoins in December. I wanted to get into trading but I didn't realize downloading the blockchain took that long so I thought there was something wrong and I lost interest. With the price skyrocketing I off course now regret not having spent more time back then Wink

Anyway, I am looking forward to the future of Bitcoins (and others) when it will crash spectacularly when the ASIC invasion is going to start Smiley (JK)

Hey

Been interested in getting involved in the whole bitcoin thing for last couple of month and finally spent time in making some bitcoin sites. I started with a couple gambling sites and look to make others in other genres. Thought id get myself involved on these forums as well to say hello etc etc.

Hello

Hi there,

Have recently developed an app that allows friends on Facebook to borrow, lend and invest with each other in any currency including Bitcoin. Borrowing and lending Bitcoin is potentially useful as a means of short selling Bitcoin (or betting that the exchange rate to real currency will go down).

Short term traders who think that value of Bitcoin may go down can borrow Bitcoins from long term investors, sell the Bitcoins immediately then buy the bitcoins back cheaper on the repayment date, thus turning a profit from a falling market. Long term investors get a return/interest on their Bitcoins without having to trade them. Short selling also benefits Bitcoin as a potential currency as it smooths out the wild volatility that makes Bitcoin an unsuitable medium of exchange.

The Beta version  is  a little rough around the edges (still work in progress) but 'does what it says on the tin'. No ID verification is required, the app only requires your basic public Facebook profile info (not email address), your friend list, and your location (in order to set your default currency). The app does not make any posts to your or your friend's newsfeeds or timelines. Your friends will only know that you have joined this app if you send them a request or an invite from within the app.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated and i would also be keen to hear from anyone interested in collaborating to develop the concept further vis a vis bitcoin or otherwise.

https://apps.facebook.com/agree-it/

look forward to hearing from you

best regards

Agree it!

Hi all,
First let me say what a great forum.  Lot's of quality discussion going on in here that's for sure.  As a developer I've been interested in Bitcoin tech for awhile but only recently became reengaged with all this recent fanfare.  What's happening with the price right now is interesting but I'm mostly curious about the future direction of Bitcoin and new applications built on the blockchain.

Delighted to make your acquaintance!

Hi

I am from Australia.

Have been interested in Bitcoin since July 2011 and have been experimenting with it since then.

Not sure where it will go...

I suppose that the real question is: are the fundamentals right?

I can certainly see digital currency becoming the norm, but is Bitcoin it?

Time will tell; to eke out a well worn phrase...

Fiat Lux!

Hi I'm Luke4652,

I've been following bitcoin on and off for 18 months and have spent a total of a few days reading/thinking about it.

I'm a London based technical co-founder of a niche financial software company. More recently I've been working on some scalable/highly available data distribution software infrastructure in an investment bank (going through roles as developer/lead/group software architect). The global finance industry is in need of some disruption.

I'm interested in the business opportunities surrounding properly solid and legitimate exchanges or similar. I have, like others, been surprised by the awkwardness of buying bitcoin for GBP.

cheers
