I've obviously lurked longer than I should have.  I'm looking for help getting all the software bits to line up correctly so that I can start mining bitcoins in earnest on the rig I just built.

I have been using bitcoins for some time now and have been browsing around here a lot, and I finally decided that I want to join.

I first randomly heard about it somewhere on the web and decided to search it. The fact that it is a P2P currency made me curious how it works, and I am now mining and using bitcoins.

Howdy,

Just a friendly bitcoinian participating in bitcoin activities because it is the ultimate currency? Yes?

Yeah, I am not really sure what to say, so I am just going to stick with that and you will learn about me throughout our mutual coexistance on bitcointalk.org!

Oh, and I am very 420 friendly.

Longtime Bitcoin user (circa mid 2012, at least) first time poster to here. I spend most of my time on http://www.reddit.com/r/bitcoin instead.

I'm new to the "simplemachines" forum format, but I've always been unhappy with unwieldy long flat threads. I'm getting a migraine just thinking about dealing with this infrastructure, but this seems to be one of the few ways to participate in some official discussions and to reach certain members of the community.

What do you guys think? (Can I even find out what you guys think without being high volume spammed from the thread? FML..)

Welcome to the forum, HMD.  I'm a longtime slashdot user, and I tend to hate the long-flat thread forum format, as well.  But most forums seem to use it, so whattayagonnado?  Hang in there and you'll get the hang of extracting most of the information you need.

So, what do you do with bitcoin?

Like happymacdonald above me, I also spend most of my time on reddit.com/r/bitcoin. I have had an interest in bitcoin for several years, but only in the past couple of weeks have I taken the plunge and started buying bitcoins of my own. I have been having a lot of fun with them, losing most of my first bitcoin to satoshidice (dammit), subsequently winning a bunch playing poker on SealsWithClubs, and now I have already made a few transactions using bitcoin!

I am an American living in Beijing, I am hoping to become a member of the local bitcoin community and try to organize some meet-ups or something.

I'm new to the wonderful world of bitcoin mining!  I just got my first gaming pc and have noticed that it is quite the beast of a bitcoin miner as well!  I know nothing about bitcoin mining, but hopefully I can find someone (or some people) who have the patience to teach a newbie how it works!

please do so! and get a post Smiley
don't be so negative, the 5-post-4-hour-rule is there for a reason: to get rid of the trolls. NOT to piss newcomers off.

relax take it easy and smile. Cheesy
