Well I have been tinkering now for about a week. I was getting a high "apparent" hashrate because I was actually sending bad answers back to the server.

Apparently although the server was discarding them [and not counting toward my earnings] - the sites hashrate for me still included them.

The problem was I hacked together something and was mining with the wrong algorythm. Can also happen if your settings are just way wrong for your card.

Thanks!

I've been a lurker for a long time, but only today realized I needed to post something. Feel like a prize idiot now.

Anyway, I've always been fascinated by disruptive technologies and am a big hater of central banks and fractional reserve systems. It also seems like this is the exact moment where BTC reaches critical mass, mining becomes too difficult to serve as the principal source of coins for most people and the press is going berserk these days.

It's like we're the same person. My heart sank when I revisited it and realized what I abandoned (both in value and concept). Anyway, I'm back and I'm in.

I am trying to build up my piece of the bitcoin empire for when the Fed determines that we're only going to be allowed to have 3 loaves of bread for a weeks work.  I hope to make a bible-based bitcoin presence on the web.

Hey everybody, I've been getting into bitcoin slowly over the last month, and have had a GPU rig going for a little over a week (almost at my first coin!).

I'm hoping to just dive right in and learn alot about everything in the next couple months. Summer's going to be crazy!

Hi - I've been lurking in this forum for quite a while and figured it was time to actually register.  There's a lot of great info here - hopefully I can contribute some as time goes by.

Sam Spade: We were talking about a lot more money than this.
Kasper Gutman: Yes, sir, we were, but this is genuine coin of the realm. With a dollar of this, you can buy ten dollars of talk.

I am a lurker, lurking around anonymously for a long time. I have stealthily lurked the whole internet and now i am here, lurking out in the open. As soon as I bust out of this here noob jail, I will uncloak myself and mingle with all the beautiful people in the other threads where I have been condemned to be a mute and invisible lurker for so very long. I have one more post and 3 hours and 13 minute to go until sweet liberty is bestowed upon me. Wish me luck!!! Bless all you fellow noobs!! I will always remember the hard times we have been through together, my noobish brothers and sisters for life, very much like hell week in spec ops training.

Hi, I started mining bitcoins with BitMinter for fun, to see how the bitcoin system works first hand. I've started a namecoin daemon, also to see that wallet system working. Now I've just started (and failed) to get Feathercoin mining working. I've posted a long question at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=188686.0. I guess I will try cgminer next.

As a long time wikipedia editor I was also interested in improving the bitcoin wiki at https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/ but after registering there I could not see any way to gain permission to edit. Several pages there need updating, for example, adding Feathercoin to https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/List_of_alternative_cryptocurrencies !

Greetings fellow bitcoiners!

I've been active as a trader for quite a while, on Vircurex (glad they're back, afterall), BTC-e, and the usual BTC/USD-only exchanges.

Pleasure to meet you.

It is great to have found this website as it is an amazing resource.  I look forward to contributing and helping expand the utility of bitcoins.  I believe bitcoins will be a long term alternative currency.  It will be interesting to see how long it takes for governments to get more involved with it...
