People have created so much hype and expectation about this news, that it's almost impossible for any news to live up to the expectations now. No matter what the news are, most likely it will be less amazing, world-changing and mind bending than some people here anticipate.
That's what I'm thinking. Right now, pretty much anything short of 'We are acquiring Intel' will be a disappointment. That valuation was of just Avalon chips. The price rise is entirely due to news being released about AMC's own chip.

As more shares are bought logic dictates that AMC will have the funds in hand to cover what they want to accomplish. More shares bought, more confidence in the company.
Wishful thinking that share price will dip, but some have to lose so others can gain I suppose.
Isn't that what I said? When AMC is almost selling out their shares at .0025, I suspect there will be selling in other securities to purchase AMC. You could be right. So im testing this out with 4x PUT options i just purchased. B/E @ 3.325 with 1d 9h expiry. Lets see if you/we are correct. If it comes good, where do i exit? Tight window, but I think you're risk will be rewarded Yes, too tight normally, but heres my trading logic: ASICMINER ask orders around 300 shares currently to 4.00 (since in breached 3.00, the min/max has been 110/360 that ive noted). ASICMINER recently released news that in my opinion, did not prick peoples interest much. Slightly negative sentiment creeping in, even. ASICMINER volume slightly down. The PUT price close to B/E now. And for the very reason lewicki said. And for that reason, i think the expiry timing ties-in nicely. If it doesn't drop within that extra day Ive got, from the AMC news release, then the theory didn't happen. Thats not to say if it does drop during that window, it did work.....just could have got lucky, and we all need a bit of that from time to time.

The price rise is entirely due to news being released about AMC's own chip. People tend to overestimate when making decisions so I doubt people are truly expecting news that would be "world-changing". People are more than likely using AM as a basis for this stock. AM is HIGHLY over priced but that doesn't even matter because people are still buying and paying that price which I guess we'd consider market value. Rest assured if this company does what they say that are going to do, current prices will seem extremely cheap in the near future. And this is what we are all betting on right? Any positive news on chip development will maintain the momentum, but I imagine the BTC10,000 (~$1,000,000 USD) would go towards assembling the Fast-Hash-80's with Avalon chips. It couldn't be enough to also fund a 45nm or 28nm chip fabrication run, could it?

That's what I'm thinking. Right now, pretty much anything short of 'We are acquiring Intel' will be a disappointment. You people need to grow up and start treating this like a business. The news is not going to be 'mind-blowing' - it is simply going to be a positive release that will by implication value shares at or more likely above the current issue @ B0.0025. You are living in a fantasy world if you are hoping for something 'really exciting'. This is business, so you should treat it as such - forget about having your mind blown and look at the figures. If you don't like them get out. Simple.

The 'problem' the way I see it is that at current valuation, the company is already valued as a mature and profitable ASIC reseller. Hell, if you weight in the total dilution of 100.000.000 shares @ current price we are looking at 25 MILLION USD company that currently only own about $1 million in capital (if the new shares sell) and a few Avalon clones and chip orders.

So you want us to slow down and think this through with logic and common sense? You have some nerve

That's the problem of valuing things by #shares * price, disregarding volume. AMC is only worth $25M if anyone is willing to pay that much for it as a whole. I can say my car is worth $10M. Am I correct? I am if I find anyone wanting to buy it at that price (volume!).

The facts as I see them are ASICMINER is leading the field in BTCmining right now, but they offer little transparency as to future plans, excepting that they intend to keep 10% of the Network hashing power and sell some hardware. AMC, to date, has been much more transparent about its intentions, and, though, they are ambitious, it seems that sustained interest from investors may bring those plans to fruition. It's a risky speculative investment, but I think a lot BTC investors are looking for big successes not small.
EDIT: BTC10,000 round of funding now: 17.22% complete

You are overlooking the fact that AMC is a mining company. The value is in the mining operation and the dividends paid to shareholders not in the companys assets or capital.

I'd argue Asicminer is mostly interested on capitalizing hardware sales as much as possible, while keeping the hashrate as constant as possible (~fixed network %). This allows them to have a steady income for buying hardware to sell, while at the same time maximizing the price they sell their hardware at (if they increase their own hashrate too much, they have to sell the hardware cheaper overall).

Agreed, but it is hard to say that they have significant development advantages on making more efficient chips than BFL, VMC, BitFury, Avalon, etc... But certainly ASICMINER has a proven track record on stream lining production.

Yep, that's why they only increase their hashrate a minimal amount. Each time they do it, costs them higher and higher. Up to a point where 110nm won't cut it anymore. They are basically trying to get as much BTC as possible from selling their current tech, while they still can.
