5 post is more reasonable. But please don't make this a start to making a worse and worse policy against newbies.

Well looks like I will be post here five times.

Edit by Maged:
No, you won't. Make/reply to actual posts. 5 posts aren't much to ask for.

I guess at least we're only spamming here, rather than at the other forums/threads.

Hmmm... I've been on a lot of forums, and I've never seen this before.
I'm also totally new to this Bitcoin thing, I came here to ask a couple of questions... (when I'm not a newbie any more) Smiley

I do understand the need to have some restrictions on new posters.

Having said that, the fact that restrictions are lifted according to a metric based on the quantity of posts (as opposed to quality) does seem a little odd... but I guess to do it any other way would be too time consuming and subjective.

Oh well - one down 4 to go I guess! Smiley

This is my 5th posts. My four other posts were done earlier when there was no restriction yet.

What do I do once I have 5 posts and 4 hours? I'm a promoted automagically or do I need to PM an mod?

Good that something is being done to counter forum-spam; Too bad I was now stopped in my tracks while trying to help out Phoenix users/development. I guess a lot of first-posters will have something useful to add to a non-newbie discussion.

Unfortunately, Mint, but I guess this make us help newbies a bit. It's not like it's hard to find 5 threads to post here.

But the time limit is more annoying... I lurked here before for weeks/months, just does not have an account.

Hello World!  My 1st post.

I learned of BitCoins only about 5 days ago when I was out of town on vacation.  A friend of mine called me up and said I should check it out.  As soon as I started reading up, it basically consumed me!  I haven't felt this motivated or excited about anything in a lonnng time.  I even fired up all of my rickety old PCs that have been converted to VMs within the last couple years... I've now got them all mining, even if only CPU mining.

Anyways, I wholeheartedly believe this concept is AMAZING, and anyone who has bitcoins now will continue to reap HUGE rewards in the months / years to come.  I really do believe this is going to be HUGE compared to what it is now... so get as many coins as you possibly can now and hold onto them as long as you can.

Due to a mass of trolling, only established posters are able to post in non-newbie sections. You are considered "established" if you have spent 4 hours online and have made 5 posts.

Now if only I could somehow change my post count from 4 to 5 I'd be ready to continue the conversation on the miner forum..

Yeah when people actually pay you for the coins you give it's nice I am sure. I have yet to experience that but looking forward it.

Yes, it's automatic. It may take up to an hour, though.

Not being able to post in other forums is a silly rule. But a good way to ensure a lot of low quality posts in my opinion, but then again no ones asking for it. Still, I can't make blank posts  Grin

LOL   Cheesy

I just wish I had been grandfathered in.  I was already participating in a thread outside of the newbie area and felt really dumb when I couldn't figure out how to keep replying in that thread.  You can only hit ctrl-f "reply" so many times.

These restrictions are just ridiculous.
