It was discouraging to see I had to post 50 times in the newbie section before I could start joining discussions in other parts of the forums, so discouraging I left for a few weeks until today. Hooray for the new(to me) post requirements!

TQC hits on the head.  They are not asking for much in 5 posts when you factor in that we are embarking on a frontier of which there just aint a textbook out there yet.  We need info and controlling the board is the only way to groom and keep things organized.

4 hours can seem like an eternity, but a long nap can take care of that.

I know what you mean. But I guess problems with spam forced them to enforce a law to prevent spammers.

So I see a lot of people from New York City. Are bitcoins popular there. I live in Orlando and few people have heard of it.
My wife went to a currency exchange kiosk at a mall ( we have a lot due to all the tourists) and asked if they dealt in Bitcoins. She got "We don't deal in coins here".  When I show the laymen how to transfer money in myBitcoin.com they think it's cool but they still see it as "play money".  I guess the first time the laymen was shown email they said politely "ineresting...  but can't I just lick a stamp and do the same thing?"

The interesting part is that we still "lick a stamp" ... and you know why? Because the traditional mail can be sent in places where there is no access to Internet.
And i have bad news for you ... BitCoin is a "play money" in this very moment of its history ...

Ciao.

Isn't "newbie restrictions" redundant?

Ciao.

In addition to licking you can also send FRN (so called "USD") in the envelope along with other nefarious if not pernicious stuff like anthrax.

A nice litmus test of who you do business with may eventually be, "Do you accept BTC?" - hey NP, I know somebody that does . . .

Thank you for the change.  I was really concerned how I was going to come up with FIFTY newbie things to say without sounding... what's the word?... Spammy? Annoying?  Newbish?  Y'all know what I mean.

So, being new, trying to find some worthwhile things to say...  It's kinda difficult.  But y'all seem like a pretty good lot for the most part (certainly not pointing fingers... YET).

I have decided how to become a better miner...  Time to look for a computer!  One without NVidia...
