I guess this filters out most of the spammers. Still don't think this is a proper way to solve a problem which could also be solved by tech means.

A spammer is always a spammer and I don't think this is going to stop him. But it will definitely stop spam bots which are truly annoying! ^_^

I'd greatly appreciate it if there was a reply restriction notice while signing up. There is nothing in help, and while I admit I would have eventually found this, as I did, it is still not a fun process. Please make this process less stressful.  |

In my opinion that restiction along with the requirement for several posts in the newbie area are nothing, but an encouragement for spam.

Same here... I fail to see how this protects the forums and improves the quality of the discussion ... some people might not have enough patience to get out of the newbie jail and just give up while determined trolls will have no problem posting 5 messages.
