I think the reason that you can earn a lot better from earning bitcoins is because:

1. Bitcoin's price is increasing. Your previous earning that maybe wasn't worth that much back then is a lot of money today. And a lot of money today will be a lot more money in the future.
2. The rate here is kinda first world. So if you're from a third world country, literally any side job on the Internet will allow you to make better money than getting day job. Of course we don't make 15$/hour here but there are people that do. Those are the people that have better skills to offer and specializes on a certain field.
3. There's just better opportunities here. People from the third world countries graduate with a sparkling degree only to find out that there's no job out there that are in-line with the course that they took. So funny because Engineers now are working at a bank as a cashier, some work somewhere as a clerk, etc.
