Caveat: the default OS install supports 8 GPUs + the onboard at the same time.  Pretty easy to quickly switch it to English (if you care), and it will work forever without activation (you lose a few features that don't matter for mining by not activating, but it shouldn't be a licencing problem to leave it like that).

It works pretty well with stock os and I added claymore 9.7 for xmr.

I had to create the claymore USB stick on a different windows pc.

Pretty happy with it running 5932 h with 990 watts is good eff. Not great but good.

I went to their site, which had a huge Sales banner. The price was $2180 for "Buy It", underneath the banner, but when you click the "Buy" button, it shows a price of $2260???

Also, their PSU shows only EU specs. Most PSU run on both US and EU standards. Does anyone know if that's true of the PSU PandaMiner sells? Seems like a great price for a 1600w PSU.

Thanks!

its a great wall PS, think OCZ over here its 1600 watt 240 VOLT ONLY.  I personally don't care since i run on 240 but most will run 120 making it useless for them.

EVGA 1300 prob all you need with Eliovp roms but a 1600 is better.  Unfortunately they are not 80 bucks hehe

Thanks. I already use EVGA G2 Gold 1300s on my existing Nano rigs with 6 GPUs. They're rock solid! I thought perhaps there might be a server-type PSU that would be a better match for PandaMiner.

nah server ones are loud as hell and if you thought the panda is loud.... wait till you get those.  Get the Linux OS and rom from Eliovp and all you will need is the 1300.  OR get a 240V Circut ran.

If you have a 20A 240V plug you can run:
3 Pandas EASY and still be at about 15 Amps.

lol its not a device that you should run in your bedroom Wink

You can not just replace the fans, with quieter once because than it could be that the MXM cards are getting too hot but philipma1957 did some modification to get it a bit quieter but still not enough to run it in a room where you stay at the same time

pretty sure philip or someone else figured out how to control the fan speeds (though IIRC it needed a VRM and some DIY wiring) - but i think the default fans had gpu temps <60C, so they could probably be slowed down or replaced with slower fans and still keep the cards cool

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461
No longer a wannabe - now an ASIC owner!

Phil,  Does the Pandaminer run smoothly on XMR/ZEC/ETH/ETC?  I know earlier it was reported some things didn't work.  Is everything working now?

I am trying to figure out if these things out of the box are ready for deployment in a hosting situation or if they need reworked to be useful in that kind of environment.  At the moment I am busy buying other things, but I would like to loop back some time this summer and start adding the PM's if they are ready for prime time.

Xmr and zec are solid.

Eth is good at full speed fans.

Right now the hardest thing to do is switch Chinese to English.

I never tested etc do not know.

I like mining xmr pretty good for mining it. 5950 h at 990 watts.

Eliovp mod   Linux rom is 6500 h  at 830 watts. Big improvement.

I agree the hardest thing is to switch to English. That took a while. I made a USB with Smartminer, changed the bios setup to it will boot on that, and it worked out of the box. No more Windows. Smiley Dont think Smartminer has XMR support though yet.

My new fan control mod is simple and easy.

Fans can run at 9 volts vs 12.
I use simplemining Linux now.  It is free. It is an easy install it is really stable .  My temps are under 60c for the gpus. The fan control works great.

Go to my profile and look at my posts you can see photos of my older mod and my newer mod for the fans .

Also I like simplemining a lot at the moment they are new and seem to be good mining os option.

I just can confirm that they are out of stock now! We have to wait for the next 2-3 weeks until the next waves is ready for delivery (hopefully).

I think I made a major screwup .....

Explored the Panda BIOS last night.... and now it boots up to black/blank screen!!!

Must have been too sleepy to know fully what I am doing.... Huh

Anybody knows .... what my next course of action to revive it?

Is there a jumper of sorts to reset BIOS?

If I provided you good and useful info or just a smile to your day, consider sending me merit points to further validate this Bitcointalk account ~ useful for future account recovery...
