[ANN] cudaMiner & ccMiner CUDA based mining applications [Windows/Linux/MacOSX]

Hi all,

Is there any way that ccminer/nvminer can detect that it can run CUDA if the primary display GPU is not NV?  I.e. there are multiple NV cards installed, but I am POSTing and displaying off iGPU, and in which case nvminer is throwing an error about not being able to find CUDA devices. When POSTing off an NV GPU this issue does not occur. 

I am asking because I need this functionality for a special configuration where I must POST/display off iGPU.

Drivers are installed for all GPUs in device manager.

If I POST/display off an NV GPU ccminer detects the cards and is able to mine. Just not when on iGPU.

I'm using the H81 BTC Pro btw, I had read some others with this board might have been having this issue, where they had to have a display on one of the cards...

That's 2 hours of my life I want back lol...

So it seems the GTX980 and 970 didn't make the big splash everyone was expecting.

So where to from here for someone that wants to update his farm a little?

Just keep buying 750ti's until they release the 980ti and 970ti?

If the 970 is equal to 2.5 750ti's then it will be worth it. Same power roughly, same rough cost, but higher density. the 980 is too expensive to be worth it for miners.

I'm using several of those and haven't had that issue. I think you might misconfigured your BIOS. You have to turn render standby or whatever it's called off along with a few other things.

Just recently, I sold most of my farm on eBay.  GA 290 BF4 Editions sold like hotcakes and got good prices, 280x's sold OK, 270x toxics I'm struggling to get half my money back, even though they are not that old.

Gamers want the big cards so if you want decent resale value, 980 might be the way to go...

Yes my EVGA hydro copper 780 is still around £600 new, but you wont find any on ebay. And for me, mining is second so the gaming is important. And i have a huge case so space isn't an issue either.

I would be much happier with a 980 than 2x 970's, personally. The problem is that the price gap between these two is really hard to justify given their relative performance spots. For me, it's 2x 970's for sure (note: my motivation is both mining & gaming).

So gaming wise, what sort of performance do you thin dual 970's with have over a 980? i know that 980 is supposedly ~15% faster then a 780ti, making it around 25% faster then my 780. But what jump do we think for 2 970's for the extra £50 ($70)?

i am still waiting on 970 reviews from my trusted reviewers. Just to note, i wont be paying for the 970's or the 980, i am swapping my 780 for them

seems the 970 is actually slightly slower then a 780 in most benchmarks (gaming), that makes an SLI, close to around 1.8x a 780, for £520....

Looks like the 750ti still isn't a bad option to be honest.  The problem I've got, I've gotten my 270x toxic's so efficient now, (undervolting and underclocking) it's 500 watts a rig @ 16.5 Mh/s x11 with the 270x toxics and 400 watts a rig using 750ti GA Blacks.

The difference is about 20-25%, hardly worth selling the toxics and buying the 750ti's.

I really hope the 970 is as efficient as the 750ti power to hash, then I can start adding some density to the rigs again.

...BUT, i read a lot in reviews that the OC versions of the 970 suck a lot of energy compared to stock.
In some tests the need 30-35w more compared to the 980 reference. It depends on the card/manufactor.

waiting for good miner reviews too - and for me personally the energy consumption is the most important factor!

Absolutely, the 750 TI's are still a great option. The key advantage so far with the 970/980's, is as you said, density.

Going strictly by the spec sheets, I'd say that 2x 970 will probably sit in the region of 30% more gaming performance than 1x 980. For mining, the gap should be greater, further favoring the 970's, but note that I'm ignoring the hash/power ratio. This is all just guesswork though, we really need proper reviews & testing to know the right figures.

yes... might be interesting... considering some 980 monster edition might come out.
I think I will go to the superclocked (standard cooling)

edit: but if some custom 980 with a larger memory bus come out... (... I mean there are plan for a 8Gb vram, so I assume they wouldn't keep the small memory bus...)
