hi all, anyone know how to set the fan speed? like 60% fixed all the time.
Thank you.
fan basically is autotune. the best you can do for silence is -2 for voltage offset and 10 for fan ----- this burns less power and hashes a little lower and is not quite as loud. this is a medium loud miner. If you want to lower the sound add this http://www.homedepot.com/p/10-in-x-25-ft-Insulated-Flexible-Duct-R6-Silver-Jacket-F6IFD10X300/100142376 ___________________ psu wires etc >>>>>>>>minerfan>>> ____________________ 2nd fan optional the duct can direct the air where you want. you can make 4 of these six feet long. If you want to leave it longer you may need a second fan

Just did a run through of placing an order for the 741 and controller but did not pull the trigger. For a single 741 and controller, the total cost would be $1,007.50. That includes $129.50 in shipping fees by FedEx. (Not sure if they would surprise me after the fact with any additional fees to the US.) Product Total AvalonMiner 741 × 1 $818.00 AvalonMiner Controller × 1 $60.00 Subtotal: $878.00 Shipping: $129.50 via FedEx Payment Method: Manual Payment Total: $1,007.50 Only payment method according to "Jon" is BTC and wire transfer. After looking at it like that, I'm having second thoughts. I'll sleep on it and see if that number looks any more palatable tomorrow. Don't have enough coins in the wallet right now anyway and I doubt my small credit union is up to speed on international wire transfers. So next week may be a better decision making time after the next difficulty jump kicks in. It's looking like a 9%+ increase at the moment with about 1 3/4 days remaining. We shall see what happens. I would still be grateful for anymore answers /opinions to my assorted questions. Thanks folks. Best wishes and MINE ON!

Do they have any 721s left? 681+ 124 = 805 The rasp pi and a card can be had for 35 on Amazon. So 840 vs 1007. I just loaded an old rasp pi 1 b with an sdcard it works fine with my new 721.

Wmabern, here is a bit of perspective. I got R4 B3 slightly more than month ago. I am thankful for every day I see both boards hashing and I hope that continues. The total purchase price with shipping was 1.364 BTC. I have been mining at kano for the whole time and with 3 difficulty changes earned about 0.2 BTC. The remainder to ROI from the miner itself is still more than what you will pay (including the exorbitant shipping that Canaan charges) for a miner that has 7% lower advertised hash rate and but is much more reliable and durable. A7* also provide you with the option to tune the miner yourself. I probably need to mine one more month to get to where I need to be down to the 1 BTC left for ROI from the miner itself, which will likely be what you will need to pay. So, this is not a bad deal, especially knowing that the double digit difficulty increases cannot last forever. I do wish Canaan charged less for shipping, but they probably deal with smaller shipping volumes than Bitmain so they might not have many savings to pass that way to customers.

Thanks ya'll for the suggestions. Good, valid points. I've decided to give it a few days to think on it before making any moves. If I do get an Avalon, I "think" I would rather spend the extra dollars on the 741 than the 721 just for the little bit of extra hash. Good points, one and all. Unless BM makes a price drop, I don't see myself getting any more miners from them. I'm getting ready to leave the house for a while, so will get back to the thread later. Just wanted to acknowledge the latest posts! Thanks!

You might want to visit: https://canaan.io/product/avalonminer-741/This suggests that 7.3 TH/s an 1150 watts are your answer. I don't know if the A741 has any serious overclock potential. I kinda doubt that it will overclock well, if at all.

Then what the heck are you doing on a Bitcoin Miner Hardware forum? There are other threads on this forum that are specifically designed to discuss the purchase of Bitcoins. You will find other like-minded people there. Perhaps you should take your Bitcoin knowledge there...?

Yes, I immediately assumed it was some dimwit trying to increase their post count or simply start an argument between people who, in many cases, haven't a real clue as to what they're arguing about. Or there really is NO right or wrong answer to the question in the first place. I'm in one of those moods tonight where I have very little patience for purposeful and practiced stupidity. I enjoy doing that every few days or so. Sometimes it seems like the questions are becoming more questionable each day. But I know that isn't the case and have been around for as long as there have been message boards or stone-age graffiti artists. Maybe I drank too much coffee this morning or too many beers tonight? And, "No", I'm not trying to increase MY post count. LOL p.s. Also, I'm not implying the OP's post/question was bad in any way. Just the one quoted reply from @01RIG is what I have issues with. Carry on!

yep, I have two 741 working since two weeks. If you have cold room you will receive more ths than official on site 7.3 Smart frequency systems show me now that chips working on 760 na I receiving about 16-17 ths from 2pcs with two bitmain power supplies 1600W. I had only problem with firmware from 29.12.2016 so I came back to firmware from november. The problem was with much higher fan speed than on firmware from november. There is also solution to cheat smar freq mechanism and add manualy freq, so in you could little lower freq, lower fans speed and of course little lower ths but definitely will be more silent.
