ETH, Waves, ARK, Monaco and NEO are my picks. Not only that they already established their names, but the fact that they already have shown a potential to have at least match the progress of Bitcoin. Though it would still take a lot of years before it happens, the point is those alts have a bright future ahead. Electroneum is also to consider I guess, but due to some speculations try to be cautious before dealing with it.

You indeed have listened some good altcoins and I also support some of it like Ethereum, Ethereum classic, monero, neo and litecoin but if we talk about the best one among them for investing in 2017 (which has already come to its end), I will go with Ethereum.

Ethereum has a large community and so far it has not been bad performing. I expect some real profits from this coin. It has remained at the top of altcoins for long now.

I'm holding SALT, Zcash and XRP. The reasons are the following:

SALT: SALT is the first loan platform for the blockchain. The concept is fantastic, you simply deposit a certain amount of coins in the platform, and in return you receive the US equivalent amount in your bank account. You're paying back the interest which should be around 10% and when the entire amount is payed your coins are returned to you. In other words you have collateral for your loan which is very attractive to many lender, and only possible by the introduction of the blockchain.

Zcash: their zsnark protocol has been praised and implemented by Ethereum's founder Vitalik Butterin. Soon we'll have complete Ether privacy thanks to the technological innovation of Zcash and their advanced encryption research. That will definitely reflect in Zcash's price.

XRP: they are well integrated with financial institutions and have one of the largest market caps out there. It makes the coin less volatile and since it's focused on the Japanese market, you're kinda exposed to the overall Asian market which is quite huge. Japanese are showing a lot of trust in that coin and that is mainly due to its adoption for top banks.

I think the best altcoin to invest in 2017 is Ripple. Look the chart, you can see that Ripple price has gone up 33 times in 2017 from 0.006$ to 0.2$. The increase is greater than bitcoin. So, my view is that Ripple is a potential coin in 2018.
