I am still trying to wrap my head around how this is using the CryptoNight blockchain, yet it is something completely different. Can someone in some detail explain the relationship between QRL and CrypoNote?

QRL is the blockchain using PoW (Cryptonight) algorithm. Now since its launching with PoW, you need a mining pool. CryptoNote is the mining pool, I have forked the cryptonote pool and made proper changes, in order to support QRL.

Thanks.

Roughly how far away are we from the mainnet launch? 2-3 months?

Don't know, Brogan. I personally am just determined not to fret about it. Just check in here regularly for updates.

If the digital currencies prices are falling it's better to hold them. Remember that the reason why we are investing is to earn more money. If we sell them then we're losing money.

Managed to migrate my tokens today. Getting a feel of the system has brought a lot of excitement. Can’t wait for launch!

Morning, Stan. My outfit -- 'IndiaMikeZulu' -- are involved in analysing DEX technology. Had a quick look at Xchange. It seems to be a lesser form of DEX that we call a 'currency-exchange platform,' in the same class as Shapeshift and Changelly.

Feel free to ask me about this stuff (or to participate in the work we're doing!). There are a couple of simple things to look out for.

I think the market will be better in June, so I am waiting for the next 3 months, and continue to watch the development of the project.

Hello all. New to this board, but a technology processional (network architect) for 20 years. This thread seems stagnant, and I'm having trouble finding current information. Can the group answer some basic questions regarding this...

1). Did mining to the temporary ERC20 network take place? If so, were tokens migrated to https://wallet.theqrl.org?
2). Is it possible to currently mine QRL under ERC20, or is that completed?
3). Any indications on a go-live for mainnet?
4). What GPU mining algo will be supported?

These are my only 4 questions. Help is appreciated. Thank you.

I have been keeping an eye on this coin for a few months now, but no pro. Will try and answer your questions. Hopefully someone who knows more can chime in and confirm or correct what I say.

1). My understanding is QRL has an ICO where ERC20 tokens were given out. No mining was done for this. These tokens can now be used to migrate over to the real thing.

2). You can mine QRL on a testnet. But it is just for testing and you won't be really mining anything, not until the mainnet arrives in the future.

3). I have been asking this for sometime now with no clear answer as of yet. My guess is it is probably 3-6 months away still.

4). It will be a CryptoNote algo, but even they probably do not exactly what it will be. It could be a unique one for QRL, it could be say CN- Heavy or CN7.

Hopefully that answered your questions Smiley

Thanks for the answers, they are consistent with what I thought...

One part I am not clear about. Why is the QRL wallet online? With the corruption of crypto-exchanges, and hacking attempts, why would anyone want to keep their wallet in the cloud? Or did I miss something here?

The online wallet is hosted version of this https://github.com/theqrl/qrl-wallet/ and can be used for migration to QRL's genesis.
Like with any online wallet, you should be careful. My personal preference is to keep it as ERC20 until mainnet is launched.
Then, I'll consider to convert the ERC20 tokens to QRL coins.

Cloud wallet is not necessarily unsafe, even if placed on your computer may also be stolen. I believe there is a great opportunity to improve.

Yes, but if it is placed on my computer, I could always keep it on a biometric secure flash drive, with another backup copy of course, perhaps double-encrypted. With a web-wallet, I have yet to hear anything convincing of putting essentially all the QRL I intend on mining into the cloud.

This is a project about fog calculations that sounds great. The former ICO was very successful.

It's good that the team is working hard, they should keep up with it consistently and work on every aspect of the project to make sure it's a success

I'd like to see the white paper as well.

Question. How were the first coins that will be converted mined? Were they created for initial investors? How many?
