This is for a personal writing project I'm working on. I imagine that Bitcoin would be good for things like teaching things like math with decimals ("How many Satoshis do you need to get a tenth of a Bitcoin?", stuff like that), budgeting (Spend it on whatever you want, but when it's gone, it's gone), or even a little bit of IT / programming stuff like how cryptography works. What do you guys think of this?

You should study more about the technology of blockchain, Don't left behind teach your classmate for everything you've learn in bitcoin. Google is your friend and youtube is your bestfriend. You can earn and learn by sharing knowledge with them. numbers don't lie and numbers of Satoshi is very realistic and will help the economy to solve problem.

In high school, especially mathematical and economic profile, the teaching of cryptography will be very useful. The children will be aware of the real state of affairs in the world economy.
Exactly it is a unique and a different concept which will attract many childs towards digital world and blockchain technology. why not marketing subject and livelihoods programs for better future fits in bitcoin. It is better for the young people to explore cryptocurrency world and teach children for brighter future.

The earlier these guys learn about the crypto currency, the better for their future. Therefore, there is no doubt that it is worth teaching cryptography at school.

I agree with you. Bitcoin should be taught in the classroom. This way students will be well informed and they won't be victims of the bad media who spread negative info

In my opinion, teaching bitcoin/satoshi in the classroom may be helpful to student's career or professional goal.
It would be better also to teach trading and investment in cryptomarket so that everyone will be familiar even in the young age.

It is a pity that at my school we were not told about crypto-currencies. Then I would have entered this sphere much earlier, and my results would now be different. I hope that the modern education system will be amended and will tell all high school students about bitcoin.

Yes it could be, but in secondary level so the children will have enough age and thought to understand well what and how the bitcoin works. Aside from learning how to earn money they could enhance the possibility to become a good business handler soon, because trading and investing is on the lessons. They also be open minded in terms of crypto and online industry.

Yes. It's high time the school system begin to teach real life skills from the primary level. Bitcoin and blockchain technology should be taught in the school from the primary level to the advanced level. This will go a long way in changing our world.

It is possible  to discuss bitcoin in the future. Maybe teachers can include in Economics Subject discussion or even in the taxation what digital currency exempted to TAX. So for the meantime lets wait and watch what happen if people already know better about bitcoin.

If you really want to teach cryptocurrency in the classroom then your topic should be about block chain and how the algorithm works because using bitcoins as a terminology on numbers is just like a simple math and there's nothing new in there so focus on another topic not just about computations.

No, I do not support this idea. All people don't need to be traders or Bitcoiners or Investors. This is a job. And people need to choose it.

I agree with you and if bitcoin was taught in the classroom, maybe the teacher is only teaching about the investment the student money in bitcoin without telling about anything so the student will learn about one of the bitcoin benefits that will work for a long-term. besides that, if the student wants to learn more about bitcoin, I think they can find more info about bitcoin by reading from the other resource and they can practice at their own risk.

I was just thinking about this because I am looking for a topic for my thesis in curriculum studies.

My company is working with universities right now for updating the curriculum of information technology courses. The project seeks to improve the competencies of graduates for cybersecurity jobs. As we know, malware and ransomware are so rampant now. Yet in my country, these are not discussed at length in universities. So the classroom has to catch up with the not-so-distant-future direction of the industry.

Following that rationale, I would say blockchain in the classroom and not just bitcoin in the classroom. I know many successful people in the tech industry did not finish college or detest schooling. But I believe we can speed up development and adoption by starting in schools while at the same time changing how concepts are taught.

I would suggest an elective on blockchain and related technologies first, with bitcoin and cryptocurrency as a part of that curriculum. As for including bitcoin in economics classes, there is an upside and a downside to that. The upside is of course changing the misconceptions "lay people" have about bitcoin. A great topic as well is decentralization vs. centralized banks and how this shakes up the current world order. Then again, as has been said, we don't want to teach trading in classrooms all over the world. I agree with inclusiveness, but making gains should not be the focus in teaching bitcoin.

Have I found my thesis topic?  Cheesy

Teaching bitcoin in the classroom won't be a bad idea but I would prefer the technology behind bitcoin to be taught in schools instead. In order word, teaching blockchain technology will be a better idea because it will have bitcoin as one of the contents in addition to cryptography and cryptocurrencies. I  think is a high time this subject is taught in schools

For me it is a good idea but it should be for college students or at least high school because they already have the logical and critical thinking about money, spending and all. We can also incorporate it with different subjects like Mathematics, Information Technology, Economics and Business.

Wow..I think that a great idea. I ever think about it before. As a teacher, I think Bitcoin as a subject in the classroom will be interesting and challenging. The students will eager to know more about bitcoin. As we know, work in the crypto world is easy. We just need the proper knowledge to do this job. Mmmm...teaching bitcoin will be so much fun  Grin

I say yes, teaching about bitcoin to students is a good idea but it should be taught according to the age, so if it is kids it should be given in the form of games and puzzles, then for juniors the technology and its merits can be added in the subjects and for seniors both technically and financially it can be taught, so when coming to college it will be ease for them and it can be incorporated in detail  in all fields like mathematics, computer science which includes cryptography, financial sectors which include crypto currencies and in business management.

I think it's bad idea because everything you want to know about bitcoin is already avaliable for free at google. If you need your child to know about bitcoin tell just tel them.

Special courses and master classes devoted to the themes of blockage in general and crypto-currencies in particular have already been offered to students of a number of state universities. And from schoolchildren, I believe, you can enter a special section on the crypto currency and blockchain in the subject of computer science.
