Pre-UpdateFolks,
back from day-work I find my inbox flooded, but sadly with mostly the same issues that are clarified in the OP. I don't really get if you are too lazy to just read it, or if my English is really that bad
I understand there are quite some newbies ordering (with sub-five total posts), and I am wondering if everybody really understands what he is doing. If you do not know what a private key to an address is or whether you control an address, mining ASICs might not be what you are looking for. I really don't want to be rude, but to openly warn that to prevent tears afterwards you need to know exactly what you are doing here. Note that your orders are binding, i.e. if you later decide you don't need the chips, I can't refund you.
A type of things asked over and over again are
- everything fine with my order?
- can you confirm the address I should sent to
- can you confirm my payment
Maybe it is still not clear what the beauty of having a common address is, so once again: the address itself contains the proof that your order was successful. Once you see your payment accounted there, there is no way for me to deny that you paid what you ordered - given you can sign with the address you sent from. That's why it is vital to send from your own address. If you have your coins at MtGox, you need to send them to your wallet first and then forward to me.
This is why I will not confirm your payment. It is up to you to check that it arrived and then post your order in the thread or via PM. There is no need to ask for confirmation or whether everything went fine - everything is in your hands. So please use your power.
The other type of questions are
- I want to buy ready to use boards, please help!
- I want to contribute to the development
Please follow the related DIY thread, I promise you'll find everything you need there. I understand it is active and therefore long, but I am serious: that is where you want to look into. Please accept that I have no time to respond to to those PMs or posts any more. If you feel your request is not covered by the OP, I'm open to check and add further explanations, but since so many already ordered without a single question, I guess it should be good enough.
Other issues I skimmed catching up the tread:
I'd confirm those 100 chips I've mentioned earlier.
Zefir, please confirm me they are available and I'll pay later when I wake up.
See above. It goes the other way around: you send the coins and confirm yourself that your payment went through.
zefir could you get in touch with Avalon team and ask them if the second batch of chips will only be a few days away or it will take more?
I am trying hard, but Avalon is not as responsive as I am (and I slowly get an idea why
)
Zephyr,
I don't understand, you say you will not take reservations but yet your last sum of orders states about 4800 chips as "reserved".
4500 chips are reserved for /me and the projects that will make their designs open source. That's like I am funding the motivation bounty that otherwise would have to be collected from all of us.
(counter question: why do so many mis-spell my nick the same way?)
Why not just set up a shopping cart with bitcoin payment and then build the database of where chips have to go, sorry did i miss somthing?
That's what Avalon is doing and after my experiences getting some batch 2 units I believe managing it manually so far is the better approach.
not that i want to take business away but if we are in it for the bitcoin community my advice for people wanting to get into a '2nd batch' is to join this group buy
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=177994.0it's almost done. i would have joined this but was too late to get my funds.
Your advantage ordering here is that my order was already posted, while the group buy folks need to collect the coins first. Now that the order of my 2nd batch will happen maybe at the same time as the others, I encourage everyone to consider joining them.
What I recall zefir saying is he plans to order more as long as more orders come in up until the cut-off date May 1st. If a partial batch is left unfilled then he'll return funds.
But if everyone waits for others to order and doesn't pay theirs then he won't know that another batch can be done. I don't believe he's interested in keep tallies of everyone's maybe, possibly positions. He's going to watch when the address balance reaches the right value and then order. If no one commits, no order happens.
Exactly this, thanks for clarifying. Since blockchain.info is still down, I have to wait for verification, but my impression is that there are almost enough coins in there for a second batch. I will post an order today or tomorrow, stay tuned.
Thats so far, an updated order status will follow as soon as I verify. Sorry if I missed something relevant that disappeared in the noise.
