Mr zefir, can I copy your group buy mechanics for a different group buy, for another country? I am seeking permission, so you don't think I'm just copying. I am already in Asia, so I want to arrange a group buy for people who are based either in my country or nearby. We don't have yet an electrical engineer, but I'm sure someone will find one locally. We will avoid having to send our chips to Germany, otherwise we can just join your batch of group buys, or the other guy's (ragingazn628). And of course, Burnin will open source his design so that can be copied.
Hello Dabs, what mechanics are you referring to you would go to copy? There is nothing innovative here, beside using the blockchain for accounting, which is inherently supported by bitcoin. Since money is at stake, I am doing everything manually (which due to the numerous incorrect claims is hard to automate). So feel free to take what you find useful and make it better. One thing that would have saved me lots of time is: should have asked to sign orders upfront and so ensure noone is sending from MtGox etc. Good Luck zefir

I am afraid I cannot figure out how to "sign" my btc sending. Would it be okay if I listed the transaction ID?

Processing after Order Window Closing We have 5 more days left until the order window closes. Since batch 5 just started and the order volume decreased significantly, I don't want those who order for whatever the last batch will be to be left in limbo. Therefore I decided to offer you a guarantee to get the chips you ordered, independent of whether enough coins have been collected.
I will handle this as follows: after the closing of the order window, those orders pending in the last batch will have the option to a) get the coins fully refunded, or b) demand the ordered chips to be delivered. In the later case and based on the volume of pending orders, I will either 1) add my own funds to order a final batch, or 2) take those chips from what I bought for my own demand.
In essence, everyone who orders is granted a guarantee to get the chips. The only factor that can void this guarantee is if Avalon stops selling chips.
I hoped the timeframe is for the auction of the first prebought batch only. Why stopping it as long as it works? I mean when you think about the reward for your work... At least i would like to see it running until first may is gone because i get some BTC then. But in your shoes i would let it run as long as enough people willing to buy are there.

You don't need to sign for the order, just post it here or in PM when you see your payment shows up in the blockchain. But you need to be sure that you can sign with the address you paid from later, since that's your proof of ownership. For a step-by-step instruction signing with Bitcoin-qt, check burnin's related post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=179769.msg1922342#msg1922342

Ha, you think it is easy money, do you? I thought the same, but learned how it is not. Besides, it was not meant as a business, but as support for the DIY folks around, and those that planned to play with ASIC chips more or less already ordered.

I'm sure some entrepreneurs are observing what is going on here and planning their own version of it. Alternatively, if you don't have the funds yet, why not start your own group buy when you do?

I was or am going to copy portions of your first post, use the blockchain for accounting, and do everything manually as well. Adding a few items relevant to my particular group buy.
