Burnin just posted that he'll be opening up orders in the next week. Do we have any updates on the plans for US PCB development?

Thanks.
How much did you overpay again? Thanks. I paid 5.6095 which equates to 69.72 chips (line 41 in spreadsheet) I'm guessing the ".72" chips won't make it through. If it did get clamped, I'd like the overpay to go to you - otherwise I apologize for false tip promise - Sorry!

Raginazn says he's got something in the works. If that doesn't work out, though, I may look at producing Bkkcoins' PCBs here on the west coast. I'm also considering ordering plain PCBs from Burnin and having them assembled here once the chips arrive. (In that case I'd be taking a bet that the PCBs arrive faster than the chips, though.)

Are BKKcoin's PCBs the ones with 16 chips on them? What happens if I have 20 chips? Anyone gonna copy the little USB dongles being bantered about?

Is the PCB layout available somewhere? I read that somewhere but I can't seem to find it. Specifically, does anyone know if a Gerber file exists that I could take a look at? I am working on possibly getting the boards fabricated on the east coast. I don't know the cost or timeframe on it just yet. Need the PCB layout first.

Some folks need to do their reading...
There is no complete design for DIY avalon because there is no fully documented avalon chip datasheet yet. Everyone is 90% done and must wait for the datasheet to drop, then they can send off their prototype runs for mfg and release stuff (if they choose) to the masses (us).
Until then, wait and read.

You can get two 10 x 10 PCB from BKK and put 10 and 10 or 8 and 12.... that is the option. Go to the KLONDIKE thread for BKKcoins idea. For Burin I think he was thinking double density so 20 on his board might be possible. Check his thread as well.

Yea I had heard about the double density, but I'm in US so I don't want to wait for chips to come to US, get shipped to Germany to be added to PCB boards so they can be shipped BACK to the US to me.

You could see if there's a PCB assembly plant near you. I might also start taking PCBs and chips for assembly, though I have to admit I'm probably no more qualified for the job than most people. I'll see if I can get some quotes from the plants around where I live.

Seems like a PCB assembly plant may be a bit overkill for 20 chips. :\

Fair enough. Right now I'm looking at sending 480 chips to a local assembly plant, so I might end up letting some other people send me their chips to get in on it as well. Not sure which PCB I'm going to use, though. Burnin's is attractive because 20 chips per board means I can chain more together before I have to add another controller. Bkkcoins' is attractive because it's open source, which means I feel I can trust it more and have my boards printed locally, which means I might get them sooner than I would when ordering from Burnin.
