Fair enough. Right now I'm looking at sending 480 chips to a local assembly plant, so I might end up letting some other people send me their chips to get in on it as well. Not sure which PCB I'm going to use, though. Burnin's is attractive because 20 chips per board means I can chain more together before I have to add another controller. Bkkcoins' is attractive because it's open source, which means I feel I can trust it more and have my boards printed locally, which means I might get them sooner than I would when ordering from Burnin.

I like the 20 chips per board from burnin, but bkkcoin has a 16 chip board and a 1 chip board, so that'd be cool too.

If you are already organizing something with a local plant, you might make a few extra btc organizing something for the group.  What part of the US are you located in?

If anyone is looking to sell a few chips to me and transfer that over on paper to Ragin I might need a few more chips...

I might need either 4 or 36 more chips.

PM me if you want to sell and I hope we can rearrange this Ragin and JohnK. I have 540 chips currently need 4 more to populate 2 more complete Klondike  16s or 36 more to populate one more complete Klondike 64.

That's good. I'm on the west coast as well. I've got 128 chips on the way and I wouldn't mind pooling for a PCB run.

If you'd like, I can poke around for quotes here and we can compare notes.

Anyone interested in my 128 chips for 9.5btc?  I need my preorder funds for another project
I am, but I need a few days to scrape the BTC together.
Unless fiat is okay... I don't know how to go about such a transfer in a manner that is safe for the both of us.
I also need to make sure ragin is cool with the transfer of ownership.

Sounds good. If we use a plant in Oregon, I'd be willing to pick them up and save us some shipping. It looks like BkkMiner might be selling parts+boards at $35 each for the K16 and $100 each for the K64.

Very interested. I was hoping to be able to get more chips on the 2nd group buy, but it doesn't look like it will go through in time.

I'd be interested in all of them, but to be fair to erschiessen (or any one else needing more chips), maybe I could just get 64?

Obviously provided its okay to transfer ownership in the first place.

Hi all just checking in

Is the plan this for most of us:

Buy some boards from Bkk(16,64 or USB 1 chips)
Then have those boards and our chips all sent someplace for assembly?

Do we need to have the in between steps of us getting the chips, getting the boards and then sending them to a place?  Can't we just bulk ship them and us buyers just it in our hands once chips are on boards?

Thoughts?

I'm hoping to have the boards manufactured and assembled PRIOR to the arrival of my chips. Then I can just drop the chips on and bake them in on a reflow station. Seems like the quickest way to be up and running after chips arrive.

What do you guys think? Any interest in getting together a group order of pre-assembled boards, minus chips?

^^^

This occurred to me as well. I assume in that case the parts already in place would simply re-solder themselves. Definitely interested in this idea so long as it is safe to do.

That's my hope as well. I'm also in preliminary talks with a fab company on the east coast but I don't have the ability to actually design the boards. I was hoping to use an open source version and get them built and delivered prior to receipt of the chips. I also wanted to see what the turnaround time would be if I had the chips shipped to the fab company and had them bang out the lot. It may be faster, actually. I just need a design I can use so I'm a bit stuck at this point.

I wouldn't mind picking up some extra chips if someone needs out.  If someone organizes something with the 16 chip design, I'll need 12 more to get two boards.  I'd buy 12 from someone on the condition that there is an organized build for the 16 chip boards, or 10 if we go with the 10 chip design burnin is working on.

ragingazn628, could I get 32 of those chips? That'd bring my total order to 512 chips.

I would like to tell you my little avalon chips story and my efforts to be in the batch.
When i saw the opportunity to be in the batch, i try to get some BTC's for my chips.
I 've started with the official way, mtgox.
I had subscribe and give my credit card account. They answer that need to refund. "Ok" i said and try to put some money. But how?
bitcoins, bank account, okpay, reedem etc.
I was forced to make subscription to okpay. But they ask me from there to make subscription to other funding methods.
Not saying much, i spend about 3 days without purchacing anything yet, even a shatoshi!
Having said that you must consider that the time was passing and the batch train would gone forever.
After continous pressure to get btc's i finally found the bad way called virwox.
I had managed to get in and make a subscription too.
After a couple of hours, i finally managed to get 0.4 BTC for 60Euros!
"Damn you" i said but the batch train was about to leave!
The virwox didn't let me to get more the same day, because of "their policy"
Ok lets try another method to fund elsewere.
I went to okpay, reedem, monebookers, skrill, UVWF, SEPA, and i dont remember how many of them i forgot to mention.
Next day i spend another 60 euros to my virwox account, and the train starting to rising steam pressure and my nerves getting like a rock.
Finally after 2 more days, i managed to get my 180 euros in 1.5 BTC but now the train has left forever.
I tell you my story because i don't want someone else getting screwed like i did.
Thank you for your attention to read this!

Looks like I'm going to be buying another user's 12.8 chips. I would really like to end up with 20 chips for a 20 chip unit though - I know it's a long shot but is there anyone in this thread that wants to sell 8 chips worth of their share?

edit: for that matter I'd love to buy someone's 18 or 28 chips, and would pay a bit extra for interest Wink
