I got permission from the staff to put up an ad long before I become a staff myself, so your argument is false, no matter how you put it. Yes, I do get paid by the forum for doing my job on the Dutch sub-forum, but those payment will be even less then I get from the ad. Why? Because I get paid based on how much I do, which isn't a lot because the Dutch sub-forum isn't that active and they behave like it should.

What is the problem with that small ad? It is a work which needs more time. You can't do it for free. Anyway, if all people think he doesn't deserve it, just don't advertise. If you really think it is annoying, you will have to remove the signature first.

People just like to whinge on here for the tiniest of reasons. It's usually just down to jealousy or envy or just plane not liking the person. The money he gets from this is pittance and regardless of how busy the op is this thread is still getting hits and is still updated very regulary. It doesn't need to be updated every two minutes and people have lives outside of this forum so give him a break, but if you do decide to post your opinions you can expect to get some back.

I guess you could ask Theymos to fish for it but that sounds like it would take longer.

Due to a failure of the RAID array that bitcointalk.org was running on, the database became corrupted. It was necessary to move the OS and restore the database using a daily backup. About 8 hours of data was lost (anything after about Jan 21 21:44 UTC).

I've been busy getting the forum back online, so I haven't investigated this much yet, but it may be possible for me to manually restore lost posts/PMs by searching the recovered database files for keywords that you remember. If you lost a post or PM that you feel is absolutely irreplacable, PM me and I'll see if I can recover it.

Everyone's drafts were also all lost. These are not backed up because they're automatically deleted after 14 days anyway.

Search is temporarily disabled because I need to regenerate the search index before it will be usable again.

There will some periodic downtime over the next few days (a few hours in total) as we get everything reconfigured/settled. A few things might be broken. Tell me if you see any bugs.

If you paid to remove a proxyban and this was not recognized due to the downtime, email the txid to the pbbugs email address and I'll whitelist you right away.

This week's ad stats were lost. The current ads will be up for an extra long time to make up for the downtime and the lost stats.

He knows that the forum is waiting for the signature campaign but there is a reason why it didn't start, it would be nice to know.
