I knew we were heading down

To bad I didn't act on it more

sad for me too second time i wake up in the morning and second guess my instincts ... i felt @245 was a little low after breaking 240 and we had another $5.00 to go up before the dump .. ah well sitting and hodling waiting unless it goes sub-200's can buy more . it might take all day to break through 240 again .

If we pop above 240 i don't think it would be that long.  I think we're gonna test 225-228 again within the next 24 hours.

Shorts are up quite a bit currently.  Looks like a bunch of longs exited which helped cause the push down.

I don't know, with all these holidays we might get a four day weekend pump resulting in a crash. BTC doesn't want to sit still right now.

Everyone makes money on its volatility.  This $8.00 drop made me 4btc.  The more it swings the more money people make.  It just depends which side your on.

This holiday weekend just started so it can go either way

This pump couldn't even break 250 before the collapse, going down like the winkle twins in a bathhouse.

CNN: Breaking the bank: Bitcoins hit Africa's money transfer traditions

http://www.cnn.com/2015/02/17/business/bitcoin-africa-unbanked/

Quote
Transferring cash via a bank or a Money Transfer Operator (MTOs) like Western Union or MoneyGram can be costly. According to the Overseas Development Institute, the average charge to transfer $200 to Africa using traditional money transfer services is 12%. If you send $200, you pay $24. The ODI added up all the transfers that happen in a year, and found remittance fees cost the African continent $1.8 billion a year.

What if that money could be spent on things, rather than fees?

As Bitcoin is a virtual peer-to-peer currency -- designed to operate on the border-less internet -- the costs of transferring money can be radically cheaper than traditional methods, and the process is much quicker.

"Bitcoin can greatly alter the remittances industry and beyond," says Michael Kimani, who heads the African Digital Currency Association, a Kenya-based group launched last May to promote digital currency technologies. "From seven days [for a transaction to clear] using banks & PayPal, down to 20 minutes speaks volumes."

Will we get a brief pump attempt to 250 again to fool all the bitards, or will we just crash?

If you look back through time in these threads you will find that almost everyone has given very poor predictions one way or the other. Proudhon looks silly now but so have many bulls with their wild predictions.

I suggest the latter one, altough it will probably start as a slow motion crash before it picks up speed.

Ah, 2011...  Bitcoin was so young and innocent, so full of promise.  A butterfly spreading its wings for the first time, a rosebud on the cusp of bloom...

Roses are red, and ready for plucking
You're almost sixteen, and ready for highschool.

Yes, gentlemen.  The blush's off the rose, she's selling tuggies in a truck stop somwhere to feed her crack stem Sad

And it's all YOUR FAULT.

Get your fiat cannons ready, gentlemen.

Still relevant... we got a little shakeout into the middle of the trading range while I was sleeping. We might test lower but watch the volume. If it's not high, don't get spooked.

Shakeouts are low volume drops to "test" the market. If you're a whale, you hate weak hands that ruin your rallies. So you can dump a bunch of coins and the market immediately tells you a story. Any sellers left? If yes, another shakeout is in order. If no, safe to go up. As a bonus you get to catch stops below the market that lock traders into poor positions. This is good because they will panic buy later.

Of course it could be miners dumping but to get the best price you'd set limit orders. There is great slippage market selling that many coins and if you're a miner, there is no interest in pushing the price down with large market sells, the price is low enough as it is!
