Social engineering got Trump elected, and the fact that it might be working on bitcoin is the problem.

Social engineering done by MSM aimed to help HC but in the end couldn't fight overwhelming facts. This is why DT was elected.

Facts and DT don't come together

The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

True or false it doesn't matter. if you social engineer HC for president you got DT. That's the fact. Get over it.

what is the sum of all btc sold in the last 24h? what percentage of those coins would need to be controlled by an attacker to initiate and continue a panic sell-off like the one that we are seeing?

Weren't there full on multi thousand coin sells in one go on Bitstamp? That's not the behaviour of your pal who you got into BTC capitulating.

the first drop that touched 1000 appears to be a large fish selling recklessly. he dropped market like -80$ with one order.

Hashrate?

You know one of the most vocalist altcoins out there features variable blocksize. And for a while I have thought if that's a solution, and if it is, would get adapted by Bitcoin, too. Only if it has proven to be the right, unique and unavoidable approach. Not as a struggle to ruin everything upfront.

Variable blocksize is not the problem. Big blocks are the problem. Common people won't be able to run their own node and then boom, we got full tilt centralization!!! Not what bitcoin stands for.

I understand the need for more people to be able to use it etc, but not at the cost of killing it.

So anyone care to explain why this whole BU fork FUD just happens to come up immediately after the ETF disapproval?  Hmmm?

You guys are getting played.  The pumpers ALWAYS come up with a reason to DUMP following an ATH.  If they can't exploit a hole, hack an exchange, or DDoS the shit out of one, they'll find another way.

The new way is pretty simple: social engineering based on emotion.  Make something trivial about Bitcoin into a big deal, create troll/shill accounts to divide the community, push $$$ towards alts and tout them as 'Bitcoin 2.0', and get everyone whipped up in a frenzy.  And short-dump on the way down.

Apparently, 90% of the time it's gonna work every time. Because bitcoiners are a bunch of overgrown whiny babies that can be easily manipulated.

Good post and bang on except for the whiny babies part ... Grin

I'm happily watching from the sidelines waiting for the lows you know are coming. Bitcoin never disappoints.

if you not crazy bullish right now, you probably also think it takes a data center to handle 16MB

So this drop is entirely because of BU?
Poloniex has nothing to do with this?

It's not 16MB, it's 16MB times 6 per hour, times 24 per day, times 365 per year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The result is close to 1TB per year!!!
No more full nodes ran by users. Centralization at full tilt.
