This Bitstamp issue might even turn out to be positive...
Once they resume operation and refund any missing coins, it will prove that the bitcoin ecosystem and especially the exchanges are maturing...

We are talking millions lost....

Why Bitstamp has no trades in the past few hour?

Something bad happening or problem with Bitcoinwisdom?

Why post on a forum if you don't read it in the first place.

Sorry but this is the very first topic I visit when I visit the forum

Bitstamp is big and profiting for years.

They can survive some million loss without collapsing like Gox

Could be stamp moving coins to safety, not sure yet if these coins are stamps and/or stolen.

no.

they would use standard miner fees for moving their coins to safety, not 1 btc fees.

Yes, someone posted this a few days ago. I still had the tab open.

http://cointelegraph.com/news/113235/bitcoin-becomes-legal-tender-for-transactions-in-california

A couple of days ago someone IRL asked me if this means you can pay your taxes in Bitcoin. Good question.

My guess is no. Otherwise you could pay with gas bar coupons or rubles.

Yeah, unfortunate how it stopped the run on Bitcoin.  No biggie, the run will resume if stamp resumes trading.
Don't have much money there, so not worried if it doesn't.
Almost like I'm the only one who's enjoying this...  Chin up, gentlemen!

Yeh, cos this double whammy of sharp price decline and possible $5m heist at the biggest Western exchange is going to have people flocking to BTC  Roll Eyes

It *may* stem the bleed in the short term, but does more damage to credibility

Holland's busiest site for buying bitcoins, bitonic.nl is getting plundred all day. They are out of BTC regularly. Apperently the Dutch think it's a good time to buy  Cool
