Yup, another BTC exchange bites the dust:

Looks like some of the smaller ones may follow suit.

Soooo Vault of Satoshi is closing now?

wow  Shocked

Quote
Our founders and team of developers began work on a new, non-cryptocurrency project about 6 months ago, which has since become quite successful. We are forced to make a choice on where to expend our efforts, as we simply do not have time to continue operating both businesses. We feel splitting our focus would be a disservice to the customers of Vault, so although our competitors may lack some of the features, currencies, and innovations that Vault brought to the Canadian market, they will serve you well for your basic exchange needs.

Much trust , such crypto future , amazing!

It would not surprise me  at all if Satoshi himself was the one destroying bitcoin. Maybe he doesnt like how it turned out and sees that the vehicle he created for the benefit of mankind has been turned into a cesspool of greed, filth, criminal activity, incompetent exchanges, and sleezy characters.

I am non-partisan but I just dont see a future for bitcoin anymore. it literally has nothing going for it with nothing to change in the future as traders continue to drive the price into the ground. Bitcoin has destroyed itself. I am out and not coming back.

do you think it is better to change in ripple/altcoins?

They are dying faster than Bitcoin. If Bitcoin has no value then the altcoins definitely has no value.

Selling your BTC at a huge loss for centralised ripple really is the only logical conclusion right now. 9/10 ponzi's would agree.

Fundamentals don't matter in a speculative market. They just don't. If anything I am impressed that ripple stayed strong while bitcoin continues to plummet.

It is ridiculous that somebody calls bitcoin decentralized while pointing fingers at XRP. Just insane.

Stupid stupid stupid to keep over 10% online. When you're a high profile target it's better to process manually and keep users happy.  Why does every crypto business has to be so retarded?

Bitstamp Claims Roughly 19,000 BTC Lost in Hot Wallet Hack

http://www.coindesk.com/bitstamp-claims-roughly-19000-btc-lost-hot-wallet-hack

Speechless.  Bitcoin's premiere exchanges can't secure their coin, but Bob the Plumber's is totally safe.  Long as it's airgapped from the intertubes.

So it was true, still not a huge blow.

Nejc handled it well. Hope they learn something out of it.

Mind providing the source from where the statement initially came from?

This doesn't look good.

Originally they said an operational wallet was an issue, now it's 'some of Bitstamp’s operational wallets were compromised'.

If they have the cover in cold storage, maybe they can pull through?

Happy New Year to crypto currencies  Angry

The decentralized dream seems to only lead to scam and anarchy right now. People being smart enough to take care of their own money without insurance and regulation...meh. A bad move and you're cooked. No wonder people starts to think centralized is not so bad after all.

If the Bitcoin economy survives we are going to have the toughest security systems on the planet. Stress-testing of banking systems? Blah! Try doing anything in bitcoin and you will see how tiny your nuts are.

If you still didn't get out of Bitcoin by now then you're just asking to lose your money.

It's over. Do the right thing and take what little money is left and move on.
