I don't see why people that believe in Bitcoin are so against seeing it go to fractions of a dollar...maybe its supposed to be this way?

I think everyone would be fine if they stopped treating Bitcoin like fiat.

What are you talking about. If I believe in bitcoin, then I want many people to use so I do not have to transact in fiat ever again.
You're in a spec thread where people  treat btc like fiat and make profit trading

Fair enough...this is a speculation thread...so why aren't people speculating then?

There is money to be made on every fluctuation of BTC price...why are people panicking?

Does anyone expect price to rise soon? I told my church that bitcoin was misunderstood by the media and that it's actually the best form of money ever created, because it's for the people and not controlled by greedy bankers. The pastor agreed that Christ himself would have approved and they invested a small fortune. But he's getting worried now, because the price keeps going down. What should we do?

I don't see BTC going to pennies a problem...I see it as its salvation...and I believe so would Jesus.

I pray each night that there will be a new rally that brings the price to $1,000 again (we bought at $900) but so far, Jesus has not answered my prayers. But lest we forget, we are wealthy in so much that we have been blessed with our health and family. I trust in Jesus and believe that He will fulfill my prayers when He is ready.

I maintain that we still need a global currency crisis / collapse followed by a flood into precious metals. Once people realise that BTC and its derivatives are as good as precious metals and easier to use we will start to see real commerce take place in crypto. See you there, might have grey hair by then. But these dayys have been fun. We were there dudes!!

What drivatives has Bitcoin got? I heard they helped cause the last stock market crash. Fuck derivatives.

Take your meds mate. I meant altcoins (generally derived from the BTC source code)

Good, the last thing Bitcoin needs is derivatives (like the debt packages in the stock market).

Well ironically the winkelvoss ETF would be a derivative. Their company plans to purchase one BTC for every 5 shares in the etf owned. Unfortunately this is exactly what BTC needs right now to allow the gamblers a regulated environment for purchasing BTC with stupid amounts of money.

The more I think about it, the more grave is BTC's immediate future. I believe that ETF was already speculatively priced into BTC too which is also deflating with all the rest of the bad news. There is still big money in BTC and these are the guys doing the mini pumps followed by the massive dumps. And as said they will do this all the way down to zero or until they are out of the market. They need to get their money back and they don't care about you, me, or Bitcoin.

Both derivatives and shorting ought to be good for Bitcoin if only the currency (not only the technology) gained some significant traction with some kind of real use case. But there doesn't seem to be much adoption other than waves of shorting traders.

It depends what sort of derivatives you are talking about. The type I am against are like the packages of debt, the source of which the buyers don't know. I heard the last big bank crash was partially caused by traders buying packages of mortgage debt, but they didn't know it was mortgage debt. People had been given mortgages who had not got a hope in hell of paying and someone put that debt into a derivative and sold it.

The winkelvoss ETF might be regarded as a derivative, but it's a completely different kind of derivative to the dodgy ones available before the last bank crash.

The media was looking for a bogey man back then. The word derivatives sounded sinister. The problem wasn't that there were derivatives related to mortgages. It was the way they were sold, and the fact that there was no security behind those mortgages. And if the buyers didn't know what they were buying, then they shouldn't have bought them. I remember one bank manager for a small local bank in Minnesota (i think) was interviewed about the bail out. His bank stayed away from those derivatives because he simply didn't understand how they could work. And when it turned out that he was right he was very annoyed with the other banks that were screaming for a bail out. It wasn't unavoidable. It was a perfect storm of lack of regulation and hubris. Sounds familiar?

If we ever see that kind of derivatives in the Bitcoin economy it would have to mean that people were taking up mortgages in Bitcoin. If so, then we can safely say that Bitcoin has succeeded.

Watching the bitcoin price tickers for all of the exchanges is damn stressful.
I am sitting on so many coins that all I am doing now is watching the price all day.
It is not like I don't already know what to expect.
Still, it never gets easier.
up down up down down down down down up up up up down down down down down up down up down.
My eyes and brain hurt.
I need a bitcoin break, but I cannot afford to look away from the screen.
I know that my advice might not be appreciated, but I think you need to reconsider your position.
If you are feeling stressed, then it's likely that you are over-invested in this little experiment we are participating in.
If you have more money "invested" in bitcoin than you could comfortably afford to lose, then you're doing it wrong.
Just my opinion.
You do realize these are just strawman accounts set up by trolls to present a ridiculous situation for other trolls (themselves most likely) to attack?
I wouldn't bother...

I wouldn't bother...
Apologies, I thought Steven was a real person.
My bad.
*edit* am I the only one that finds the excessive bear trolling to be bullish?
My traps are set from 300 down to 250 (CAD)
You bears are welcome to unload your beanie babies at my prices.
I am a purmabull.
What are you talking about?
I have been hodling for years now.
I know I am not the only person who has lost money outside of bitcoin and all of sudden anything I own worth value is more important. I had assumed with my coins I would hodl them for 10 more years. Unfortunately that is not possible in my current situation.
I am waiting for 350-400 then I am selling off all of my coins. After I deal with a few personal issues I will reinvest. I believe in bitcoin.
When I made the initial investment I paid ~14$ for 100 coins. About a year ago I picked up 10k worth after meeting someone here. My first post on this account was to find someone who could broker that for me a year ago. In the last week I was able to put 10k in. That is all money which I care about. I don't see this as a gamble. I have been watching the bitcoin since it was 2$. I believe in it. I don't care what anyone else has to say really. Id bet my life on it.

I certainly don't value anything 99% of this forum has to say as the majority of people I see here are trolls, or people posting the opposite of what they believe and flat out lying to drive the price one way or another. Everyone, at least in the speculation section, has their own bullshit agenda which they attempt to push here.

Personally, I believe this link explains all of the trolls on these forums:
http://21stcenturywire.com/2014/02/25/snowden-training-guide-for-gchq-nsa-agents-infiltrating-and-disrupting-alternative-media-online/
This is a common practice and bitcointalk is the perfect target.

The only reason I post here or even watch is because it is hard to stare at a computer screen for so long doing nothing. This is more a cheap source of ridiculous entertainment along with a place to watch the people who are afraid of the future so they try and slander the coin.
