We'll probably reach our old ATH by mid summer, and hit anywhere from $7000 to $12,000 before crashing down to $2000-$2500, possibly before year's end.

We should be above $10,000 for good by this time next year.

Unless something comes along to break Bitcoin before then.

That's all there is. Bitcoin does not get support from central banks or large parties with big coffers. It's like the short lived depression in 1921: all pain comes out very quickly, cleaning up the excesses and making room for the future entrepreneurs. Nothing changed for Bitcoin, only the price.

My pastor told me today he was tempted to sell the church's 30 bitcoins, but I convinced him to wait. As I discussed in a different web chat on this message board, I believe Jesus is testing our faith in Him. I have faith in bitcoin and believe God will shower us with the bounty of its riches once the negative energy is finally cleaned out of the system. For that to happen, we may need to drop in value a little more first.

I got incredibly lucky to get in at $5-$10, actually, and it wasn't as an investment but rather that I did have a use for it at the time, so no, very little butthurt here.

I'll tell you though, I'd be very butthurt if I had listened to permabulls when the price was $900. The incredibly bullish sentiment was terrifying to a rational observer, of which there didn't seem to be many posting around here at that time (probably too afraid of getting harassed by psychobulls on a rampage with their calls for 1 million per coin).

Compared to then? Can't argue with that. From a neutral standpoint, I'm conflicted, because on one hand, the sentiment is more bearish, but on the other, we still have some people talking about 10k per coin.

For that matter, you can't trade on sentiment alone, it's got to be combined with other factors.

Well i was late to the party and i bought most of my coins in march/april 2013. I am still in the green despite buying in 2014. I was massively better off from this particular punt last year but that is life

Whoever is driving the price down week after week knows exactly what they are doing. If it is miners then it is not in their interests to destroy the very commodity they are mining by crashing the price. Miners sell for income. It is exactly the wrong way to sell your coins in that context to dump thousands of coins on exchanges every few days and by doing so reduce the price for your next sale.  

My only real concern has been our friends in the central banks. Bitcoin would be the only market they werent directly manipulating if they are not involved already. Could they destroy bitcoin? Dropping the price aggressively would be a great strategy. We already have some features of the gold market rigging in bitcoin - price moving sharply downwards on good news for example. The best way to dissuade new entrants to the market is to keep the price incredibly volatile and prevent it from rising.

That said this is probably just a nasty bear market with a few greedy speculators with total control of the market. Eventually it will be more profitable for the price to rise again.

Why all the conspiracy theories...is it possible that there are simply more sellers than there are buyers?

Why is that when Bitcoin does something strange they attribute it manipulation?
