When does GBTC go live?
One and a half hour, I think. If people choose to sell. EDIT: Sorry, 23 minutes! EDIT2: + Add 15 minutes on the delayed public quote. Really? If it's 9:30 New York time. Maybe it was 10:30?

I'm not sure if Barry himself even knows? what i dont get: what can possibly be so hard to know when a fckn equity starts trading?

Because no one knows when someone will bring their shares to their broker to sell. For all intensive purposes, it is trading with buy offers, just no sellers--thus, no matches and no volume.

When does GBTC go live?
Well, when does the NYSE open? I guess it's still an hour or so - if they really start trading today. It remains to be seen how the market reacts. What will happen if no one is willing to sell? Is that bullish? Bearish? Of no consequences? We'll see... I would be surprised if nobody decided to reshuffle their portfolio after the year that has passed Yeah, that's what I'm thinking, as well. On the other side, the bids are tempting. I think we may see a very low volume, due to the lack of asks. But that's just my own personal bold prediction Let's see... Come on, NYSE, open trading already!

There are no sellers so there is no activity. You can't make a trade if there isn't a counterparty offering the other side of it.

Is there a "Waiting for GBTC trading" meme yet ?
I think I saw one somewhere. I humbly propose "godot" as the SI unit of BIT share liquidity, namely 1 traded BIT share.

I thought people were still waiting for their shares to be processed so they can go and sell them!? Isn't that what we're all waiting for. Barry couldn't go and provide a "start date" when the only thing missing are shares to be processed.

From the posts on the SecondMarket observer thread, I understood that the company contracted by Greyscale already finished its part of the task; but the shareholders who wish to sell still have to do some paperwork, that may take several days.

No one has had their shares processed into their brokerages to take the other side of the trade (i.e. be a seller).

This happened over 24hrs ago.. No. They changed it to just 10 coins like the others. But half an hour ago (09:31 NY time), they went back to 5000 coins.

AFAIK, this is likely in 3 hours. Could be epic or just fizzle out. But I have set a timer to alert me I just had a 235.07 sell order filled, from a 214.xx buy barely a week ago. Im happy. Congratulation to your 5$ profit!! I am really happy for you It was a bit more than that, 7.8% after fees I believe.
