It's a bit of a world unto itself. It can be much more fiddly and expensive to get USD in and out of there compared to other exchanges due to the multitude of third party services you have to use.

This has been commented on in a number of bitcointalk threads and that was the answer that came up most frequently. I think it might be because either its withdrawal or trading fees are much higher than on the other exchanges. However, I have never traded on BTC-e and have no first hand experience.

It's not guaranteed to be higher by any means, but you can usually depend on it to be a tad more. I've used it a little bit and it was fine but only for crypto. When I looked into depositing USD on there I couldn't be bothered. You pay a high price for perceived anonymity but you're mainly paying a premium to preserve their anonymity.

Good evening gentlemen! Nice to see a small price rise the last day or two. Certainly beats dropping like a stone like we have been for literally over a year. I'd like to see us rise slowly & steadily, it's far better for  bitcoin than unexpected big pumps followed by big dumps. My hope for the week is to reach 270 & stay over that small milestone.

that referendum wont change a thing in prospective.

zee germans and Merkel are like: "yes, greeks, referendum is nice and cute! call me on monday to check if I will answer at all".

to think even remotely that the greek position will be better after the referendum is just stupid. their government is hoping to use it to barter better terms.

and you bitcoiners hoping for a pump after the results! it's gonna end bad.

Bitcoin is going up since OXI (no) was said to be the winner by various polls. The small pump started when the first results were given, but it is not settled yet, it can still change.
