Anyone see a buy order get a piece of one of these ephemeral walls?

A little. It takes someone dropping a fair chunk of cash to catch it. It gets pulled pretty quick.

Pretty crazy that someone can dump 10k coins in 15 seconds and the market is back where it was in a few hours.

Wow.   Unreal people can be manipulated so easily.   5k ask wall and 1k bid wall put up at same time.   1k was sold into and then the 5k was pulled.   Does not seem to be a coincidence . . .

Reading this thread:

OMG shit's getting dicey

Check Bitcoinity:

Huh? Nothing's changed. Price moves are completely boring.

However, I will say that the lack of the usual mid-week rally seems short-term bearish, especially if the price doesn't shoot up in the next hours.

For perspective, though, we are still quite a ways above the 2013 exponential trendline, which now sits at $100. It will take another five weeks before that line reaches $200, so there's nothing alarming about meandering around the current price point or even dipping to $100 - or even temporarily a little lower if there's a good excuse (news/crisis).

Wake me up if we leave the $100-$150 range.

Yeah, lag can happen. It's an X-factor (news/crisis). Hopefully Gox has it under control this time.

EDIT: Lag now 8 minutes Undecided

On the plus side, this may be a good opportunity to see whether hands have gotten stronger since the last wave of DDoS attacks. We'll learn if people have really become less panicky, and whether Gox has gotten better at handling it and communicating about it.

EDIT2: Lag back down to 3 minutes, price holding pretty steady so far at $132-ish.

EDIT3: Lag is gone, price is steady. So far.

Oh you people of little faith! About 1.5 million bitcoins (of the 11 million existing) are in the speculative weak hands. We owners of the larger stash, are busy preying on your smaller stash, and constantly buying more and more of it. Currently bitcoins are hardly even getting distributed in a serious way, since I and the likes of me can still easily live in luxury + earn more bitcoins doing it.

This is mathematically impossible to continue. Bitcoin price will rise Smiley

I can write you puts at $115 if you like. I am able to write for BTC500 at the moment. The price will be decided on by case basis. Preferably just one counterparty thank you.

this means bullish for the long-term, which i can agree with. unfortunately we are severely short-term overbought, are in the midst of a minibear, and are encroaching on an extremely important mid-term support. if you really want the market to do what you want, take your cash and put a wall at $120, else we'll possibly crash right through later today.
