Is anyone surprised that an anonymous site run by russians wasn't a hive of money laundering?
I don't get the gox coins bear market though. If they were only on there itvwouldnt have had much effect. I guess they were rinsed and sold elsewhere.

Not before we see John McAfee winning his bet for 1 bitcoin = $500000 by 2020.

No I don't think anyone is actually surprised. It's just the timing is conspicuous. The articles state that the FBI had been watching Alexander for months, possibly longer as they were working on the case for a year. So why move in now? Why not in January, February, March, April, May, or June? Oh, right.... "they" were too busy running up the crypto market then. Same with moving in on Mt. Gox.... came after the peak.

Of course, I doubt there is an immortal prowling around the forum. Except, maybe for Satoshi.

Did everyone just miss this bit ?? - The trial of MT's CEO recently kicked off in Tokyo. Gox Mark Karpelès , who accused the hackers of the 850,000 bitcoin, worth about $ 500 million, lost in 2014. According to documents that reached 306,853 bitcoins stolen after the attack on Mt. Gox entered the BTC-e purses. According to the same documents another part of the stolen from the attack on Mt. Gox arrived at a San Francisco exchange office.

What's that supposed to mean? Sooner or later every bitcoin (stolen or not) will "enter" some exchange. That doesn't mean that the person that sends it to the exchange is the thief!

Good chance there are also stolen coins among the many coins we own by now. People are willing to pay a premium for freshly mined virgin bitcoins.

Fair point but the powers that be like to spin it as facilitating money laundering. ie the exchange is providing a platform for the sale of stolen goods (btc) I know its bullshit but try telling the fbi that when they come a knocking.

Why can't there ever be a month where nothing bad happens? At least SW is going to lock in this month, interested to see how far down price will go before and after SW. Volume will probably slow to a trickle that day, meaning easy manipulation of price. And BTC ABC.

Cost of production to mine anything in space will be astronomical so you're wasting my time even mentioning it. You might as well claim we will mine gold inside a black hole or alternate dimension. We would probably attempt to mine metals 2 miles under the ocean long before space but that is of course no threat to anyone buying at current prices.
http://www.planetaryresources.com/http://deepspaceindustries.com/Cost to start mining will be astronomical but so will be the quantities mined. Asteroid mining is not that far away in time. Privatization of space industry is bringing down costs. You don't really know whether the costs will be so high that the market won't be flooded enough to keep the price of precious metals down. That's a futuristic concept art, you don't need that kind of structure to start mining an asteroid, and it's not a Dyson sphere. You don't have to maneuver kilometer long asteroids, small ones will do, there are ones passing close by Earth, you don't have to go to the other side of the Sun or something.
It will probably be a couple decades but you shouldn't be so dismissive of it, especially if you're betting all on precious metals
You know what youre talking about, unlike ROach who loves mixing things together with irrational explanations..which make me convinced that his longterm gold plan will be ruined if he wont listen. Thats not my problem i just gave him a good tip. I'm baffled about the Dyson spheres those belong to type 2+ civilizations while we Earthlings sticking to type 0. Same story when i explained 3d printer to my friends years ago, they thought i was crazy. There was no such thing as ''printing'' a house out of a 3d printer, they know better now. Even NASA is using a 3d printer to print food for there mission to Mars. Within 10 years everybody will have one so people can download ore disign there own furniture. possibilities are end-less. Idem dito with Bitcoin. Those people who called me a fool are now respecting me because they know i'm starting to get rich. (Profits are nice but thats not my main goal, financial freedom is more important to me) I love longterm exotic technology, my calls are always on spot. Currently i'm reading a lot about nano technology and human DNA, in particular DNA manipulation. Then you should be more careful of what you introduce in your mouth and eat it.

I'm interested to see how far up price will go before and after SW. If the rumors are true that BTCe hacked Mt. Gox, then 500k BTC hitting the market is probably not going to make the price go up much anytime soon. I do welcome cheap coins, though.
