Whenever you spend BTC which you have received via SegWit addresses, you will receive the SegWit discount.

So segwit destroys fungibility. Got it.

Hmmm.'Round these parts, back in the 2014 election, both major party candidates for U.S. house were taking bitcoin contributions. I actually set one of them up to do so.

Yeah i remember... I posted about it back then too..

it looks like litecoin is getting an atomic swap pump. i'm really curious to see how well all this stuff is gonna integrate. it's been a long time coming.

How does it destroy fungibility any more than it is today? Because depending on which originating address it pays a different fee?

Or is it another thing? Because currently you are also paying different fees depending on how your tx uses BTC spread over several addresses.

I don't think that I will ever use segwit, because I use bitcoin for serious stuff and serious amounts only. For the same reason I want it to stay as much as it is as possible.
Cheap people can use cheap coins to get cheap fees. BTC is for gentlemen.

when both litecoin and bitcoin have segwit atomic swaps will be possible. this'll mean a decentralised, trustless and near instant exchange between the two blockchains which opens up many possibilities.

I personally do not think so. It's been no secret that it will be activated.

I think it's all priced in. I am off to bed soon too and when I wake up I wouldn't be surprised seeing it slightly lower than it is now! This is Bitcoin!

Does anyone here use any of the Bitcoin debitcards that you can load with BTC and spend your BTC anywhere?

I want to get me one and any recommendations/warning etc would be appreciated.

The more private the better

I have the SHIFT card. It's from Coinbase. I don't use it - I'd rather spend fiat than crypto. But it is Visa-branded, and converts only at moment of purchase. I like having it, just in case I need it. Probably not private.

I have the BitPay card. It's from BitPay. I ordered it before Jeff became persona non grata. From what I understand you have to load it by cashing out. So I haven't loaded it yet. I like having it, just in case. Certainly not private.

Does anyone have the Bistamp card? It seems to have reasonable fees, but would like to hear from someone with first hand experience.

I don't think that the "private" cards will last for long considering it can help avoid taxes on the sale of BTC. Same as will probably happen with the exchanges that don't do full KYC/AML.-

Even if a card is linked to info about you, it doesn't mean the taxman will know.

... if S2X forks without replay protection, the fork will be a giant mess...

This is what is giving me pause deciding to sell BCH. As is, it provides a free protection option from this possible mess in November, so its utility in my eyes is more than the dumping gains at the moment.

and that's part of their plan. It's an attack on two fronts to lead you where they want you (in their shitcoin prison).

Yeah, but they engage in a kind of half-assed attack, which ends up diluting their power, no?  They have a kind of ADD, they cannot stick to one project... so yes, there is going to be ongoing confusion and attempts at diluting bitcoin into these various distractions (that they try to describe as bitcoin equivalents - but in the end, these half-assed attacks are inferior imitations)
