So basically we're looking at a repeat of BCH. There will be a split, BTC will dump to make room for the new token/s, then the new token/s will slowly die, bleeding back into BTC. That the long and short of it?

Unfortunately, this fork, at its current state, is much more dangerous than BCH since the S2X devs have not enabled strong replay protection at this time. AFAIK, they briefly included some bullshit opt-out protection where people would have to include some dust transaction to a certain address; if they wanted the transaction to only be played on the BTC chain. (This would have effectively bloated the BTC chain)  However, I believe even that BS has been yanked. I hope Garzik does the right thing and implements strong opt-in protection. If not, this may be a mess.

Amazing how people don't want to discuss  unpleasant things. When I've mentioned this few days ago:
Quote
I was accused of spreading FUD almost immediately after that. My strong feeling we are approaching this fork not prepared enough to protect BTC, relaying on the fact that BCC was so easily wiped out of the picture.

So we're still under $6000? Can't we go beyond or back? I don't like this much stability in bitcoin. Roll Eyes

there's lots of impressive words and even more impressive supposition. who is anyone to know who 'whales' are and what their intentions are? and what's with the ongoing fear and deification of this popescu guy? as far as i can tell he's an unpleasant writer who owns a few thousand coins.

The current state of replay protection for 2X is:
They are discussing making a pre-prepared transaction in the forking block  (so its only on the B2X chain) this block will then be used like a dust fountain (or faucet) spewing out tiny bits of B2X chain dust on request. Once you have mixed this dust with your coins they can easily be split, as the TX can't be replayed on the existing chain.

Of course this is not proper replay protection, they don't want that because they would need to get everyone to install new (SPV) wallets.
They are hoping to fool these newbies into moving to their 2X chain without them even knowing.
Talk about dishonest....

I hope the CoreCoin drop will be worth something. A slightly inferior coin with 1 miner controlling 80% of the hashing power doesn't sound too tasty.

Don't you have some altcrash forum to troll in?

Why so touchy? It won't affect BTC. But we'll all be CoreCoin hodlers, so it would be nice to hear some thoughts. Dump immediately or wait for some vanity rally, like with ETC?

I will dump whatever alt should come out of a fork a.s.a.p. I did it with Bcash and it paid out handsomely.

I held on to Bitcoin Cash, just in case. I might consider it with CoreCoin too, but I don't really see the point. Its strongest card is its devs, but they clearly have a problem with cooperating with the community. Also, who knows who will stay when shit hits the fan. Some of them are flexible and have worked with alts, so they might just shift focus entirely.

You are really on a nonsense streak today... more than usual.   Roll Eyes

Maybe. We'll see.

With (not-so-well)hidden agenda that 2X coins could easily be replay protected, and thus more secure. Read: more attractive to the average Joe. We need something similar for real Bitcoin, unfortunately nobody gives a damn.

Good morning Bitcoinland.

Not much change other than Sunday's beartrap finishing closing... currently $5684USD/$7123CAD (Bitcoinaverage).

AltCash also flat... currently $314USD/$393CAD (Coinmarketcap).

We're pretty much where we were after the dust settled after spectacular Thursday. I'll consider this to be a half week of consolidation so far.

Maybe soon we can see some new ATHs.

He ran an exchange. Probably shorted the Gox collapse. If he was sitting on a hundred thousand coins I wouldn't be surprised.
