^When that first refugee gets turned away, the ugly face of future-states will be staring you right in the face. Undecided

Your preconceived notions of something in such a primitive stage is lovely. Takes me to the way way back machine of the early days of Bitcoin.

And like Bitcoin, seasteading will be started by libertarians and taken over by the same people that want it regulated and watered down.

projects like this always get the nay-sayers to do their thing. if mankind had listened to the nay-sayers only, we would be still hunting deer in the forests. I wish you luck and energy.

not saying it cant be done. saying an off-shore gated community for the transnational rich isn't interesting
its obscene

ok, that is not nay-saying. I was quoting you as an example, but you are right, your posts are not a good example.
I doubt that getting away from poor people is the motivation of the sea guys. they want to get away from bullying nation states bureaucracy.

I hope satoshi nakamoto had not "only" a technical vision. I hope he had a vision for mankind as a whole. maybe he will finance a colony on the moon or mars with his stash.

Being a Libertarian, I wish Elwar and anyone else who wants to do Seasteading the best of luck and success. I say go for it. Don't let others tell you what is and isn't possible.

But that being said... the world is full of talkers. I see this all the time with millennials and other idealists (young or old). Willing to sit around and expound for hours, days, years about what they are going to do, or what they think will work, but never putting forth the effort and hard work to actually doing it.

Talk is cheap. It's easy to talk and romanticize about what you are going to do. But the doing is the actual hard part. The upfront planning and mega investment. The million and one decisions that have to be made. The years and years of hard work and effort. That's the "walking the walk" part. Not many people these days that will put their money (and hard work) where their mouth is.

You can't really defend an idea that you think theoretically will work. You are just romanticizing. You have to live it first.

with the next +10% we will break 10k coming week. 12k by end of 2017 and 60k-100k by end of 2018 sounds reasonable.

Yes, it will become interesting once price doubles in a week.

About seasteading, I think that, given sufficient time, human nature will disintegrate it. It's true that communes exist, but the members of those communes are usually bound together very strongly by some common, usually supernatural belief system, often by means of force. An example is the Christian communes, many of which exist today. See, for example, the Amish and Mennonite communities. And is has been shown that, although it may appear otherwise on the outside, such communities are far from harmonious on the inside.

The problem I see with seasteading is that ego, greed and the lack of a strong, religious or cult-like binding force or belief system among inhabitants will result in heavy disputes about governance, heavy fighting and general unrest, up to a breaking point when the "mainland" will intervene and enforce order.

Even two people in a family are often unable to cohabit the same house without strong disputes and arguments, to the point of violence and divorce. Imagine what will happen when a group of several people, unknown to each other, and with lots of money to enforce their own opinions, preferences and desires, get together and attempt to co-exist in a relatively small area, physically isolated from the rest of the world...

The whole thing reminds me of Jacque Fresco's "The Venus Project":

https://www.thevenusproject.com

It may sound great, almost heavenly, on paper, but I don't think it can last for too long because, sadly, it is not compatible with human nature. And human nature is not easy to change. The former Soviet Union tried it with communism and they failed. It may sound pessimistic, but that's how we are designed.

Look at monthly RSI, it's well over 93%.

Only 3 times so far we got over 95.
Each and every time we were into a bubble just about to burst.

How long after getting above 95 did that happen each time?

You're not wrong to be cautious here.

But let me ask you a question. Suppose those hedge funds planning to invest in futures through the CME, and even Wallstreet whale traders, know for a fact that the Bitcoin price will soar higher in the coming years want to get out in front of it by buying loads of Bitcoin directly now.

Would they be able to disguise that market buying pressure? I think not.

Is that what we are seeing with this rally then? Possibly.

Could we still see a big short once the CME thing gets going? Possibly. I wouldn't rule it out.

Could we instead see no pullback at all? Possibly.

Prepare accordingly.

I agree, except "no pullback" is not an option imho.
We may debate whether a correction may start from here, 10000, 12000 or whatever, but we'll get a huge correction afterwards ( 40% ?  60% ? ).
Morevover usually when the bubble bursts all you get is a huge price spike that you'll hardly catch.

Personally i trust that monthly indicator and from here i'll follow the simple advice: "sell greed".
Still liquidating along the rise.

If the technical indicators are little bit more accurate, in price movement prediction, than looking at the glass ball a lot of people would be rich. Unfortunately they are not.

About seasteading, ...
(getting totally off-topic, but I'd like to add a positive note in light of the current prices)
Most of the problems you describe result from too high density of people because people all want to be where the most natural resources are, and then having conflicting ideas about who those resources belong to. (your link is the opposite of reducing population density)

I hope both will improve with renewable energy. It's one of the most important resources, and makes _many_ more location perfectly habitable, resulting in a lower population density. In case of solar, the resource is not bound to a location, so land-grab won't get you the resource, the owner will take the panels with them when you chaise them away.
Water is also an important resource, but anywhere near the coast it is easy to create when there is almost unlimited supply of energy.
