314 coins to sell @ 1061.6 and moving down right at the limit - It's interesting to see a price manipulation ongoing, LIVE  Undecided

L.E. wall @ 1058 (14:37 CET)

LLE: 300 wall @ 1054 (14:39 CET)

LLLE: wall split 50%/50% (60 BTC/ 45 BTC) (+ rest of them removed for a later manipulation) at around 1055 - 14:43 CET)

... aaaaand wall gone @ 14:44 CET (for the moment)

Wall back up 241 coins @ 1070 (14:54 CET)

197 coins @ 1068.7 (14:57 CET)

wall removed again (14:59 CET)

You're gonna go insane at this rate.
And you won't be the first one.

Thanks for the heads up , I wasn't around when BTC was in the ~10 USD rate and did not hold for a couple of years for it to get to 1k.
I'll just keep that in mind, read this blog post in autumn 2015 and see if I go nuts then.  Cool

Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

Its not manipulation, its a selling technique, moves down until it gets eaten, which it did at 1052, as i ate part of it Smiley

I feel like I'm back in undergrad  Tongue

Unfortunately I'm on my phone so somebody else is gonna have to finish this problem.

In other news: Gox says WHEEEEEEE!

Edit: I think I can speculate on the answer. With dt limiting to zero you get a maximum for the raise, decreasing to a minimum possible raise for a 60min dt period.

In other words it's not possible to establish a single value for Mr. Magoo's raise, just a function dependent on the number of bets he placed.

Or, perhaps the constant bets size permits you to establish the period...

Damn, now I'm going to have to do this properly when I get some pen and paper. Nerdsniped.

I suspect you're making it too complicated.

Work out the fraction *retained* over a two hour period.

Take the square root, that's the fraction retained in a one hour period.

Cube it, that's the fraction retained in a three hour period

The rest is left as an exercise for the reader. Though I may have missed something in the question.
