Could someone explain in simpleton terms this type of chart please.  I have seen it 100's of times but never understood it.

bid and ask depth of an exchange

Thank You!

So from the chart it means there are more people waiting to sell above the current price than there are people wanting to buy below the current price?

Is the chart Gox or another exchange ?

It gives a vague idea but it must be interpreted as such, going by the order book on gox, there is 10,000 buy orders placed down to 650$ on the ask side there is 10,000 coins available up to 1100$

Apparently the simpsons reference is negative in that someone lost money in a crash.

Thats bullish. It means it is going mainstream, and for it to grow there has to be fear, caution and negativity in the air.

The more "positive" the mainstream is, the closer is market saturation which means "time to sell"

Krusty should have held.

Strong clown hands Krusty!

Futures have collapsed, dealing only +120 above spot when it had been dealt like +800 at the top.

I am not as familiar with futures market analysis. Can you expand on what this means?

Check out:  https://icbit.se/WebTrade/Trading.aspx?s=BUH4

That's the march contract, highest volume contract on the site. The spread between Gox Price and March contract has been of interest to me. Currently trading "only" $120 over current gox price, when it had been trading as high as $2000, when gox was ~$1200, ie an $800 difference.

Were I a manipulator I would think of crowd psychology.   Guarantee folks will be taking a look at the exchanges after simpsons.   Give them a good upwards show!   Smiley.
