The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

For anyone who hasn't seen the reason for this flash-crash.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=403499.new#new

derp,  then were bound to rebound hard if that's what caused us to dip. Read it on twitter hours ago...people are just so sensitive to China... However they do the most volume so they are rightly so paying close attention

Is this the bottom or we just stopping to let some ppl off before we continue down? The charts indicate still going down, am I reading that right?

I think it depends on the upcoming news, so far it has more of a "silkroad closed" vibe than a "china bans bitcoin" vibe

I'm familiar with what happened after the China news (that helped me to increase my coin) but not with what happened after the silkroad situation.
Can I ask what happened after the closing of Silkroad?

flashcrash about 50% down. Quickrecovery, then slow increase and 2 weeks later that whole rally-thing to 1250 started.

Sounds good. I'll take one of those.

This flash crash doesn't seem very flashy or very crashy at the moment.  Going to try to go back to sleep - alarm set for 650 on Gox.

Is there anything new in that 'news'? Isn't it the same situation as announced in December just clarified?

I didn't see a flash crash, I saw a correction.

I suppose we'll all know in 24hrs.

People see this as a possible lead up to a crackdown. Just as last time in the space of a few days there were multiple announcements which crashed the market. The deadline for withdrawing fiat from the Chinese markets is looming and it seems like more actions might be taken.

The optimist in me says HODL but I also made a promise to myself that I would take signs from China more seriously next time.

I agree. We'll know long before Jan 31st what the end game for China is.

This is just the 'chinese ebay' who forbids the trade of bitcoins on their site. Something what we all expected already, nothing serious in my opinion. I don't think the price will go very low just based on this news.

This. This shows how little experience with normal assets is present in these forums. Bitcoin is up 22.5% is less than a week since new years.

to buy or sell?

Also i am dissapointed that CoinBull still doesnt want to follow on the bet, since his chances of winning are now much higher.
