I know that this might draw a number of derisive replies, but has anyone considered that we might actually be in the final and most pronounced dead cat bounce?

Like the last two weeks you mean? All of this could have been a uptrend within a short term bear correction. It could be months before things settle down. Just like in the summer after the April spike and pop the market could rise and then fall to a final bottom for some time.
The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

I know that this might draw a number of derisive replies, but has anyone considered that we might actually be in the final and most pronounced dead cat bounce?

in my opinion, what is happening now is not a try to trigger panic sell, because we are over this, people already learned how to smartly hold, what is happening now is a try to pull down the ASK book in a way that more orders will build up at lower prices so these buyers who drove the price up can still get cheap bitcoins...

just look at the ASK sum 15500 BTC on the whole sell book @ mtgox!!! out of the 12 million Bitcoin existing this is really really small amount, all exchanges put together doesn't sum up more than 300K bitcoins, people are holding and believe about the future of Bitcoin, I think $1000 and $2000 are still really cheap and optimistic entries for new comers, and I think allot share the same view with me .

looking again there is more than 1500 BTC back to $1095....

Its easy to believe a lot of people were both a) making a lot of money on doubling their cash quickly, and b) weak hands who just want off of this roller coaster ride.

This would be no dead cat bounce.

Transferred the last of my trading stash into storage last night.

Feels good now. No temptation to sell. Basking in glorious hodling.  Smiley

Just torrented turbotax, my state taxes are higher than my federal... OUCH Shocked

This is probably as it should be if you are in a state which raises revenues through income taxes. Of course, it should be because federal taxes were a tiny fraction of what they currently are.

no new wires at gox today, it's a holiday in japan

So the Stamp/ btc-e  holiday deposits will arrive today, starting in a couple of hours.

Gox won't have any new ones today because it's a holiday, what about tomorrow?

tomorrow should be fine again.

stamp/btce wires will start soon but i don't know how far we can go without gox.

that's ok .. we can just chill here for a while ... back to trend now, feels mellow

This can't be right! You are predicting $1mil by the end of 2014!

Since I made that chart, i'll say use it with caution. If you make any trading decisions based on that chart you are on your own. It only contains data for part of the period, after the first large bubble in 2011. It also has to be expanded with a S-kind of ending at the top since it will obviously flatten out when saturation is reached. But it gives the best fit to the data for that time period.

Whoa!!! Are you saying there's a chance of BTC not hitting 1mil in 2014?!?! I already mortgaged my house and my family based on your analysis!
