Some extremely important people will be watching. NY is a global financial hub. It's a far bigger deal than if the same hearing was taking place in Nebraska or somewhere similar.

This meeting is huge. The point is not necessarily to generate a bitcoin-friendly regulation format, the point is the generate a pro-bitcoin feeling. If the New York Department of Financial Services is pro-bitcoin, speculators won't be afraid of the U.S. (or state) governments eventually slamming it resulting in a crashing price. Specifically, the meeting is in New York, and we're all literally waiting on Wall Street to buy in to shoot the price to the moon.
